Witty's Lagoon

Witty’s Lagoon Regional Park is located in Metchosin, on the southern coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. One of the notable attractions of Witty’s Lagoon is the stunning Sitting Lady Falls.

I'm pretty sure that this was just Witty messing around one day. After seeing the Sirenix Witty Prototypes that everyones thinks are Jakks, I have confirmed this was just a promo image for the Witty clothes with Jakks bodies. Jakks and Witty have been working closely together as we have seen with the box art etc.

Yay! Witty made a new shoe mold! I like the mold for the most part, but the construction is pretty clunky looking compared to the show design. In the show the designs have much thinner line widths for the, but when you compare the design on the shoes to Bloom's shoes from her artwork on the back of Tecna's box, the design is basically the same thing and is accurate enough to the artwork.

Witty's Lagoon

Witty, attractive, and gifted with a singular presence, Christina Applegate has engraved herself in Hollywood as a talent of profound range. Her career launched on the smash-hit Fox TV sitcom Married with Children (1987-1997), in which, playing Kelly Bundy, Christina marked her career breakthrough—and secured her lasting fame. Building upon that success, Christina’s uncommon skills as a comedic and dramatic actress helped her win starring roles in such films as Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead (1991), The Sweetest Thing (2001), and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). Christina’s rare talent won her an Emmy Award in 2003 for “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series” (for her performance in an episode of Friends), and a 1999 People's Choice Award for “Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series” (for her title role on the sitcom Jesse). In 2004, Christina marked her Broadway debut playing the title role of Charity Hope Valentine in a revival of the musical Sweet Charity—in the process securing a nomination for a 2005 Tony Award for “Best Actress in a Musical.” Today, Christina stars in the ABC comedy Samantha Who? and also plays Elizabeth Montgomery in the feature film Everything Is Going to Be Just Fine, due out later in 2009.

This carte de visite was made by Charles Ripley Burnett Claflin, whose gallery at 188 Main Street, Worcester was active through the early 1860s.

The softly vignetted bust portrait and plain mount place it in the opening years of Cartomania, around 1861–1864, when American studios were first embracing albumen paper prints. The sitter’s modest dress and small feathered hat reflect transitional fashion of the period.

The woman who posed for Claflin wrote wittily:

"Will this suit you? If not, I have a dozen of my pupils' portraits you might choose from!

For your album, A Worcester belle."

This passage suggests the image was exchanged for placement in a friend's cdv album.

Cartomania refers to the extraordinary international craze for cartes de visite (small albumen photographs mounted on card stock) that swept Europe and the United States beginning around 1859–1860. Although the format had existed on paper since Disdéri’s 1854 patent, mass enthusiasm erupted only once studios began producing these portraits cheaply, quickly, and in large multiples.

For the first time, ordinary people could commission photographs that were affordable enough to distribute widely. Families ordered dozens at a time; friends exchanged them as social tokens; soldiers mailed them home during the Civil War; and albums specifically designed to hold CdVs became a standard fixture in middle-class parlors. Collecting celebrity portraits (actors, generals, politicians, writers) became a culture unto itself.

Cartomania was, in essence, a social revolution: it democratized portraiture, redefined how people represented themselves, and created a new visual economy in which photographs circulated like calling cards. Between roughly 1860 and 1870, cartes de visite became the most common photographic format in the Western world, eclipsing daguerreotypes and ambrotypes and laying the groundwork for later, more elaborate paper formats such as the cabinet card.

Henry Frederick, Prince of Wales (19 February 1594 – 6 November 1612) was the eldest son of King James I & VI and Anne of Denmark. His name comes from grandfathers Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley and Frederick II of Denmark.

Prince Henry was widely seen as a bright and promising heir to his father's throne. However, at the age of 18, he predeceased his father when he died of typhoid fever. Subsequently, the heirship to the English and Scottish thrones passed to his younger brother Charles.

Many places in the Colony of Virginia were named in honour of Prince Henry before and after his death.

He was born at Stirling Castle and became Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland automatically on his birth. His father placed him in the care of Alexander Erskine, Earl of Mar, and out of the care of the boy's mother, because James worried that the mother's tendency toward Catholicism might affect the son. Although the child's removal caused enormous tension between Anna and James, Henry remained under the care of Mar's family until 1603, when James became King of England and his family moved south.[1]

His tutor until he went to England was Sir George Lauder of The Bass, a Privy Counsellor — described as the King's "familiar councillor"[2] — and he was also tutored in music by Alfonso Ferrabosco the younger.The king "much preferred the role of schoolmaster than that of father", and wrote texts for the schooling of his offspring. James directed that Henry's household "should rather imitate a College than a Court",[3] or, as Sir Thomas Chaloner wrote in 1607, His Highness's household [...] was intended by the King for a courtly college or a collegiate court"[4] In 1605, Henry entered Magdalen College, Oxford, where the witty, outgoing, popular young man became interested in sports. His other interests included naval and military affairs, and national issues, about which he often disagreed with his father. He also disapproved with the way his father conducted the royal court, disliked Robert Carr, a favorite of his father, and esteemed Sir Walter Ralegh, wishing him released from the Tower of London.[1]

The prince's popularity rose so high that it threatened his father. Relations between the two could be tense and on occasion surfaced in public. At one point, they were hunting near Royston when James I criticized his son for lacking enthusiasm for the chase, and Henry initially moved to strike his father with a cane but rode off. Most of the hunting party then followed the son.[3]

"Upright to the point of priggishness, he fined all who swore in his presence", according to Charles Carlton, a biographer of Charles I, who described Henry as an "obdurate Protestant".[3] In addition to the alms box that Henry forced swearers to contribute to, he made sure his household attended church services. His religious views were influenced by the clerics in his household who were largely from a tradition of politicized Calvinism. To his preachers, Henry listened humbly, attentively and regularly to the sermons preached to his household, and once told his chaplain, Richard Milbourne, that he esteemed most the preachers with an attitude that suggested, "Sir, you must hear me diligently: you must have a care to observe what I say."[4]

Henry is said to have disliked his younger brother, Charles, and teased him. Yet there is only one surviving anecdote between the two: When Charles was nine years of age, Henry snatched off the hat of a bishop and put it on the younger child's head, then told his younger brother that when he became king he would make Charles Archbishop of Canterbury, and then Charles would have a long robe to hide his ugly rickety legs. Charles stamped on the cap and had to be dragged off in tears.

Following his father's accession to the throne of England in 1603, he became automatically Duke of Cornwall, and was invested Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester in 1610, thus uniting the six automatic and two traditional Scottish and English titles held by heirs-apparent to the throne(s) ever since that date.

As a young man, Henry showed great promise and was beginning to be active in leadership matters. He was a friend of Sir Walter Ralegh. Among his activities, he was responsible for the reassignment of Sir Thomas Dale to the Virginia Company of London's struggling colony in North America.

He died from typhoid fever at the age of 18. (The diagnosis can be made with reasonable certainty from written records of the post-mortem examination.) Henry was buried in Westminster Abbey. Prince Henry's death was widely regarded as a tragedy for the nation, some may consider prophetic.

According to Charles Colton, "Few heirs to the English throne have been as widely and deeply mourned as Prince Henry." His body lay in state at St. James's Palace for four weeks as his father collected money for an extravagant funeral on December 7, when over a thousand people walked in the mile-long cortege to Westminster Abbey to hear the two-hour sermon delivered by the Archbishop of Canterbury. As Henry's body was lowered into the ground, his chief servants broke their staves of office at the grave. An insane man ran naked through the mourners, yelling that he was the boy's ghost.[3]

Charles immediately fell ill after Henry's death, but was the chief mourner at the funeral, which James I (detesting funerals) refused to attend.[3]

Upon his death, all of Henry's automatic titles passed to his younger brother, Charles, who, until then, had lived in Henry's shadow – Charles was created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester four years later. Charles was not as well-regarded as Henry had been, and after he assumed the throne following the death of his father in 1625 as King Charles I, his reign was marked by controversies, most notably conflicts with the English Parliament. Following several years of the English Civil War, he was tried and convicted of treason and was beheaded in 1649.

So I was thinking that the new Bratz and Winx Witty Toys bodies were somewhat similar and decided to do a clothing swap.

I don't think many people would want to switch the any of their older older Witty/Simba Doll's clothing with Bratz clothing, but this was just a Musa from the budget line "Magical Party" which came with a meh dress so I decided it would be worth it to see how the switch went.

Jade's dress does look very short on Musa since her legs are so much longer, but overall I think this dress fit's Musa very well, and looks very nice on her!

For twenty-five years London has been subject to a beautiful onslaught of criminal activity, reprehensible to some, embraced by others, colourful, witty and provocative. Street art, phenomenon of the 1990s, developed from graffiti art, a phenomenon of 1980s, is a regular occurrence on London's streets; in some areas it is ubiquitous. Its existence in London owes much to the city's cultural ties with New York, London's wealth and status and to the talent and determination of Bristol based artist Banksy, who introduced street art to London.

In London there are hives, around which street artists buzz, fanatics hunt and serendipitous locals and tourists register pieces on their mobile phones. These hives are to be found in Camden, East London and Leake Street in Waterloo. The Camden part of Regent's Canal, in 2009, hosted London's first and only street art battle between street-artist par excellence Banksy and an old time graffiti artist Robbo. In Shoreditch, East London, gallery owners, design studios and businesses, inspired by early works of Banksy, commission art on the outside of their buildings. This commissioned work is accompanied by an ever changing pastiche of gratuitous work, which has turned Shoreditch and East London into the spiritual home of street art. Leake Street, a disused railway tunnel just behind Waterloo Train Station became a hive for street artists and graffiti artists after Banksy organised a street art festival there in Spring 2008, which led to the tunnel being designated a legal space for street art and graffiti.

The Chinese say life is both yin and yang and the same can be said for the energies and motivations driving street art. Yin is an explosion of energy, an attempt to mean something to someone, a fire fuelled by a need for recognition and acceptance. Yang is a deep breath out, a chance to reflect, an opportunity to disconnect and feel one's real emotions; to disengage from the zeitgeist. For some, street art is all about the yang about free expression, emotion, creativity and the altruism of the street artist. It is part of an idealistic utopian philosophy that art should be for the people, free and accessible. However, in reality, most artists are guided by yin, fuelled by a desire to make it as an artist, to get a name, to get ahead.

All street artists experience the tension between yin and yang, it causes many to entertain delusions about the greater good of what they are doing, to hide their problematic egoistic tendencies and criminal activity. The fact is, the street artist is a psychopathic charmer, trying to seduce you with the beauty, audacity and complexity of his gift, hoping you forget he has, unilaterally, decided that his need for his art on your wall, is greater than your right to enjoy your wall, as it is, without interference. And London's heart is fluttering. The media celebrate street art, local authorities protect street art works from vandalism; the firm Pearl and Coutts, when it found out that Westminster Council wanted to remove a Banksy exhibit from one of its walls, went to the length of taking Westminster Council to court, to try, unsuccessfully, to have the image protected. In 2008, London art auctioneer Bonhams held London's first auction of street art, ; Village Undeground held an "urban art sale" and a piece by Banksy attracted a bid of £208,100. The elevated status of the street artist prompts invitations for shows from owners hoping to cash in on the cache. Like this the street artist is laundered.

The rise of the internet, which has coincided with the rise of street art, has created a virtual street art world. In the real world of street art those who happen to see the art, and enjoy it, encounter it as a moment of serendipity. Bloggers and web site owners rip the art from their geographical location and juxtapose the images next to each other. Here, viewers of street art get a concentrated experience, delivered to them through the click of a mouse, rather than the motion of their legs. Street art in the real world is transient, in the virtual world, digitally preserved, it lasts forever. The magic that might have been shared by a few, who had the luck to walk down a street at a particular point in time, can now be shared by millions in the virtual world. What we are left to ponder is whether street artists are creating street art, with a view to how this will be seen in the virtual world first, with considerations for people who and experience it in the street, coming second?
