Not much in the way of reflections this morning as the tide was way out....but plenty of colour in the sky :)

A witness cairn was erected in 1997 to commemorate the arrival of the Christian missionary St. Ninian to these shores, and pilgrims are encouraged to place stones with personal messages onto a rock cairn. These cairns are sited in the remains of a building used to house the Isle of Whithorn lifeboat. Stones are constantly being added and include beloved pets as well as humans.

The long ruined 13th Century St Ninian’s chapel can be seen in the background.

Decided to run around the headland from Narrabeen to Turrimetta. Thankfully I made it in time to witness this short burst of sunrise colour.

Last night checking photos I took those two days I visited Valparaiso to previous series, I kept watching this one for awhile. I love street art when it is well made and here I consider that it is so. I think that there council town or wall owner will come not thinking the same and will make it erase. So this is my way of leaving witness of this good art before it disappears. As major part of this photo series, it is taken in the Artists Hill. I hope you like it.

Nice to bring out some smiles in my street photography. This was shot from the hip with my camera hanging from my neck and pointing ahead. I stood still using my cell phone to my ear and making a pretend call in which I started shouting and waving my other hand about, while my other hand was continually pressing the shutter button. The women obviously thought my antics were amusing while not realising I was photographing them.

Witnessing the lunar eclipse was magical. Planning and shooting the same was a lot of fun. Out here, in the north east of US, the lunar eclipse was not total, so missed out on the blood moon, but it was still a scintillating experience. As the moon was getting into total eclipse, it set over the horizon. But at the same time it created for some interesting photographing options.

This involved a lot more planning than it meets the eye (and a bit of luck, as there were too many variables from the weather, location, time zone, the quality of the air etc. Will share more details on the planning and tools in a separate article, for my geek friends out there shortly.

Additionally, this is something new I had tried. Had always wanted to shoot a scene around sunset and into the night and highlight the same in a single frame as time-slice [A time slice is depicting a time range in a single frame]. When I learnt about the lunar eclipse, this past week, thought it might be a good candidate for time slice. This shot is a mix of landscape and time slice – in an attempt to highlight the lunar eclipse in the context of the surrounding landscape. This was a panorama made out of a composite. Though it does not look like a wide view, that is what helped capture the moon and the lighthouse in context (all 12 images [10 for the moon and 2 for the lighthouse] used to create the same, were shot at the extreme end of my long zoom lens). The long zoom helped actuate the size of the moon to some extent due to the much debated perspective compression effect.

Driving for couple of hours, setting out with the camera in the biting cold, witnessing moving ice by the lake, the planning, the execution and the processing – it all culminated in the below shot :)

Happy New Year to all! I know.. It's been so long since I post any landscape shots, almost 2 years I think. Actually 2017 was a very important year to me and my family. We are having a baby! Yeah it's been a crazily busy life since my wife was pregnant. But in the past year I did have chance to keep sometime for my precious hobby, go around the places and witness some amazing sceneries, thanks so much to the support from my family. Here I am putting up a shot from Carrizo Plain last April, where there was a fantastic flower season. Guess I am back to business now. :P And there are more to come. Thanks for watching!

Double exposure combining two images shot within yards of each other in the area around Plaza Catalyuna in Barcelona recently.

One image is of a mural depicting a woman's face and eye while the other is of a little-known plaque celebrating the life of a mystical Jewish astrologer and healer called Astruc Sacanera, who lived in the area in the 15th century.

Out of the corner where the river makes a sharp turn below Lasalle falls. I like the three boulders and the longer shutter speed to emphasize their texture and steadfastness against the relentless flow.

A serene spring evening at Elgol Beach, in beautiful Skye. I had witnessed the remnants of a raging autumn storm during my previous visit to this place, and so it took me a while to also appreciate the beauty of a very different scene. Which is why it took me over two years to finalize this edit and publish it. Hope you enjoy!
