Known as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, Wanda and her brother Pietro accompanied the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants for a time, but soon abandoned their terrorist activities to join the Avengers. As a member of this foursome, the Scarlet Witch served with distinction, and as the team expanded, she became romantically drawn to one of her fellow Avengers--the android known as the Vision. To better control her power, she began taking sorcery lessons from the witch Agatha Harkness, and after both she and the Vision had built their confidence, the couple married.

Sideshow Collectibles, Marvel Comics and Mark Brooks are proud to present the latest from the Marvel Comiquette line, the Scarlet Witch. The Scarlet Witch Comiquette is recreated here in breathtakingly stunning detail, paired with a tiny tot version of her hubby, a perfect addition to any Marvel display.

African blood ritual. Traditional healer (witchdoctor) Mr. Neverdie Mushwana who lives near the town of Tzaneen in South Africa offers "protection from bullets and luck on the horses" with his unique blood ritual that entails the supplicant having a sheep or a goat slaughtered (throat cut) above his head. The cost in 1998 was 2000 rands and the person seeking this protection, if still alive, six months later will have to return with another sheep or goat and the ritual is repeated at a cost of another two thousand rands. At the time I checked with Prof. Hammond-Tooke of Wits university regards this blood ritual (as Neverdie would not talk about precisely what he was up to). Prof. Hammond-Tooke could not explain this and did not know about this type of ritual. The closest he could come was to relate to a female blood ritual as practised for a short while at the turn of the previous century in Zimbabwe. It is my conclusion that Mushwana had dreamed this up as a money making exercise. Mushwana also keeps African Rock Pythons in an outside room, and, if his ancestors tell him, will also use a snake in the ritual, draping it over the "victim."

Witch's Nest is a small pocket in Pennsylvanian age Warren Point Sandstone. It is decorated with numerous faint prehistoric petroglyphs. The age of this artwork is unknown. The site has been know for many years and it has suffered some modern abuse. Someone tried to remove a section of decorated wall, without success I imagine. The sandstone, in the pocket, is very soft making it a good media for carving but it would crumble if chiseled on.

“Protection” Witch Bottle.

As symbols of protection I used: salt, dill, black pepper (peas and ground), ginger, dried nettle leaves, lemon peel, pins and needles, rowan berries, sage leaves, red thread, hand-made pentagram.

Every time I put an ingredient inside the bottle I said:

”___ that protects, protect my home and all within”.

I decided to turn my regular rag doll pattern into a witch doll pattern for Halloween. I used green fabric for her skin, gave her black hair with some green highlights, chose Halloween fabric for her body and skirt - and added an easy-to-make pointy felt hat. I love how she turned out! Witchy AND cute!

SV-182 — Nelson Dionne Collection. View of the back entrance to the Witch House, located at the corners of North and Essex Streets in Salem, Mass. Seen in disrepair here, this view is likely from not long before 1856, when George Farrington purchased the property from the Corwin family.
