Wistful Wysteria
Oh, wistful wild wysteria,
Your lilac blooms delight,
Dangling pendant clustering
Soft pastels kissed by light.
This shot makes me wistful. Too bad that it is almost impossible to make a self portrait like this for me, my wife and my daughter. Being the one behind the camera has its limits.

Outside it's nearly 109°F. We are staying indoors and listening to the air conditioner nearly breaking down.
The beautiful young lady in this photo is Lulu Lovering (check out her photos!!). I had the extreme honour of having her visit me in Canada for part of the summer. I will never forget the incredible week we had. :)

The weather down where I’m staying has been so foggy and rainy (my favourite type of photo shoot weather) so I’ve been running around trying to capture as much as possible! I couldn’t pick between two photographs. Which one do you prefer? Also, what weather do you love to take photos in?

There's something about mist shrouding distant hills that evokes a powerful feeling of wistfulness in me. C.S. Lewis captured this emotion so powerfully in the latter part of his novel, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". There is a longing for "the far country", Aslan's country, and a recognition that something great awaits beyond the present, the known. That's the true magic of the Narnia series, and it was that wistfulness that is stirred in my soul as I look at this photo. I hope it inspires you in some way, too. Barney gazing rather wistfully off into the distance probably dreaming of a world full of fields of sheep, squirrels that come down from the trees when you bark at them, tennis balls popping out of the ground and an endless supply of biscuits...
He has yet to find this border collie paradise, so sadly he has to settle for a run on the sheep-free common, barking up trees containing invisible squirrels who NEVER come down and play, then a game of fetch with two old tennis balls and a biscuit or two when he gets home...
Yes, its a tough life being Barney ;-) I hope you're all having a good week, still extremely busy with coursework but I'll try and catch up with you all in a week or so... things should start getting less busy after this Friday!

Piers Corbyn photographed at the Trafalgar Square anti lockdown protest.
Lucky to position myself close to the stage in order to try and photo some of the speakers there, this was taken just before he got up to speak.

"I discovered that the horse is life itself, a metaphor but also an example of life's mystery and unpredictability, of life's generosity and beauty, a worthy object of repeated and ever changing contemplation."

Tiny maples - probably sugars - carpet the forest floor at Lake Laura Hardwoods SNA - they are so shade tolerant, sugar maples can spend decades as seedlings and tiny saplings.
I popped in to Borde Hill yesterday for what was probably my last visit before the gardens close for the winter on 3 November. There were little dragons dotted around the garden along a Halloween trail laid out for children to follow. This poor little guy had lost an ear and will no doubt be glad when the next few days are over. I'm already looking forward to Spring when the gardens will reopen and the whole cycle starts again.
~ wishing that weekends lasted longer.
then you could do more of the fun things, like playing with the kewpies and visiting grandma.
I can fly sometimes...
Really soar ...
... look down and see where the pockets belong
each little faction ... and each big circle
and sometimes
if I try really hard
... can think into you
and make you know
I've been there
Wistful (adj.) - "characterized by melancholy; longing, yearning". A ghostly woman hovers on a downtown street corner, hands twisted in mourning, wistfully peering into the distance for the return of a lost love.
