Wise words that I saw on a blackboard awhile back. I plan on taking this advice later this summer. Our family is going to visit California in August. I always take at least one book with me when I travel. Reading helps to kill time when one is stuck in an airport.

Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.

-Henry Ward Beecher

And,

When I say artist I mean the man who is building things - creating molding the earth - whether it be the plains of the west - or the iron ore of Penn. It's all a big game of construction - some with a brush - some with a shovel - some choose a pen.

-Jackson Pollock

For Looking Close...on Friday ~ Wise Words

1.

will you ever, ever move around?

december: the world is full of cold ropes and void seats,

a bribery that pays for time you're losing and keeps

playing back until the side is over

unable to begin anew.

2.

the walls have songs to sing and all you brought back

paws upon its ears, like an invite to

get out and watch meteors falling

Another for 100x weekly theme of Words. Some of the more amusing and colorful words I've seen lately.

Seen outside Home Grown Restaurant, in Newark Delaware. Captured with iPhone, edited in Snapseed on iPad.

Nice place to eat if you are ever in Newark or passing through on 95 hungry. Lots for meat eaters and they cater to Vegetarians and Vegans.

These are wise words for the challenging times that we are going through right now. Saw this on the sidewalk while I was walking the dog not long ago.

The role of Mickey Mouse is to make all the people happy (especially when you are in Disneyland). Are you Mickey Mouse? Are you trying to make everyone happy?

I listened to a talk by a very experienced fine art photographer in the weekend. He advised that "Remember to make yourself happy and not the others happy when you do your photography". These are really wise words.

If you are following all the rules and advices suggested by experts or your "expert" friends such as the ones listed below and you are trying to make others happy, chances are you might be Mickey Mouse?

If you want to make good pictures, you need ...

- you need good camera

- you need good lenses

- you need full frame

- you need DSLR

- you need more pixels

- you need RAW

- you need HDR

- you need Photoshop, Lightroom and other softwares

- you need good light

- you need to go to some beautiful places

- you need to have perfect sharpness

- you need to get perfect exposure

- you need shadow details

- you need highlight details

- you need a lot of details

- you need fast hands to catch the perfect timing or moment

- you need good colours

- you need true black

- you need true white

- you need "correct" white balance

- you need to have the horizon level all the time

Photography is your interpretation of the world with your own eyes and your camera, but not in others' eyes.

Have a great Mickey Mouse Sunday!

Today's quote is from The Religion of God (Divine Love) by His Divine Eminence RA Gohar Shahi. 'Ponder! Did you ever pray to God, 'O' God, I desire from thee nothing but thee'?

Which you have admitted to one lie its a little hard to take the rest in good faith

So for this round I had a lovely, poetic encounter with Ruthless Crab who is very talented and creative photographer - her photostream is a definite must see.

Her challenge to me was . . .

Today is Robert Burns Day (or at least it still is over here in Canada). So I looked through some of his poetry for inspiration. This snippet stood out for me:

"Reader, attend! whether thy soul

Soars fancy’s flights beyond the pole,

Or darkling grubs this earthly hole,

In low pursuit:

Know, prudent, cautious, self-control

Is wisdom’s root. "

My challenge to you is to show us a photo that conveys the concept of "wisdom".

I like a bit of poetry and a bit of tradition and usually celebrate Burns Night so this was great for me.

But . . . it was much harder than I expected as I struggled for a decent idea. In the end I settled on this concept.

UPDATE - Explored #330, thanks all for the kind words, comments and faves.
