I thought that the Black and White treatments for the photos from the walk that dad and I took were much more interesting.
In this weeks installment of Walking with Dad we decided to go out even though the temps have cooled down. We just went up to Baraboo and walked along the Wisconsin river.
When our walk was done we grabbed subs at Milio's and then watched the Packers Bears game back at the Pines.
It was a good day, and the Packers were actually able to get a win without Aaron Rodgers at QB.
Wisconsin Rapids is a lovely central Wisconsin community that serves as the seat of Wood County. As its name suggests, the town is located on the Wisconsin River.

I've been playing around with infrared effects and really liking it, so I'm cruising my archives in search of good subject matter to work with.

These very tiny cricket-like creatures were common on the sands along the Wisconsin River. I'm not sure if they are uncommon this far north or if there is just very little information, but these were the first records for Wisconsin on Bugguide.net.

I took this while my friend drove across the bridge over the Wisconsin River. For those of you not aware, earlier this month, Lake Delton emptied into the Wisconsin River after a weekend of torrential rainfall. The dam held up, but the water broke through about a quarter of a mile down from there, took out a number of homes, part of a highway, and drained into the river. I feel horrible for the people who live in the Dells/Lake Delton area, and rely on the water and tourism for their livelihood.
