A Carnegie grant of $12,500 was awarded on January 14, 1914, and the building was completed and dedicated in November 2015. It was designed by Grant C. Miller, Fullenwider & Dowling and constructed by the Rose Bros. Co. The library moved to a new location in 1975 and the building is now privately owned.

This was about the last shot of this crummy, wet, slick, cold day. Hopefully I can revisit Platteville and some of the other towns in the area soon. Lots to see and do in this part of the country.

Straz Tower (East Hall)

Residence Hall of Marquette University

Formerly a YMCA, later aquired by Marquette University and dubbed East Hall. Underwent massive rennovaitons in 1999-2001 and renamed Straz Tower.

While Straz Tower is rather spacious and newly renovated, there are more reasons students choose to live there. The specialty housing option of Honors Program floors and the fantastic dining room are also features that draw people here. Also here is the Marquette Rec Plex workout facility, allowing students easy access to health and fitness equipment, including basketball courts and a swimming pool.

Baby cow in Door County Wisconsin

saw it while we were paddling some backwaters of the wisconsin river near spring green. it swam across the river, and went to a bank where your average american guy was sitting fishing (like the kind of person you ask how the fishing is, and they say "shum shum shum babble babble BASS!"). i figured i would warn him and so i shouted 'hey!' and he didn't really even respond. anyway bob jumped out of the canoe (only like 2 feet deep or less where we were) and grabbed the snake as it got onshore. the dude then took a picture of it with his cell phone (of course) and some super-tanned woman ran down the bank and asked to hold it, which impressed me quite a bit since i didn't want it anywhere near me. only close enough to take a picture of. a pretty big snake. it tried to rattle its tail at us but it didn't really have a rattle. we read in the snake book that it uses leaves and other debris to make noise while it shakes its tail. about 4' long or so.

Apostle Islands National Seashore, Cornucopia, Wisconsin

While this photo doesn't exactly conform to the theme of this set, I have included it because it represents a time and place event for me. I think this was taken as we all walked underneath the I-94 overpass near Milwaukee County Stadium.

Another abandoned car I came across last Sunday, Aug 17, 2008. This car was sitting right in front of my Abandoned II car. They both were sitting on the side of a rural road.

A rare sight to see. A maroon and gold unit still bopping around in 2012. Can't imagine this will last for much longer.
