Why are you guys so anti-dictators? Imagine if America was a dictatorship. You could let 1% of the people have all the nation's wealth. You could help your rich friends get richer by cutting their taxes. And bailing them out when they gamble and lose. You could ignore the needs of the poor for health care and education. Your media would appear free, but would secretly be controlled by one person and his family. You could wiretap phones. You could torture foreign prisoners. You could have rigged elections. You could lie about why you go to war. You could fill your prisons with one particular racial group, and no one would complain. You could use the media to scare the people into supporting policies that are against their interests. ~ The Dictator (2012)

On Monday, July 11, 2016, Mike and I headed to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to exchange our Florida driver's licenses for Texas ones. Given the lengthy wait ahead of us, we decided to visit the nearby Texas DPS Historical Museum and Research Center (5805 N. Lamar Blvd.) to kill some time.
Here, you can see one of the vintage DPS equipment displays in the museum's main exhibit room. This case features wiretap equipment that dates to the 1940s.
. . . . .
The Texas DPS Museum website features a virtual tour that allows visitors to click and pan for a 360-degree view of the main exhibit room.

Part of my photography class's assignment on juxtaposition. Parked on Pennsylvania Ave. in DC, this cop is doing nothing for the stereotype that cops break whatever rules they want to, when they want to. Hey - this guy is with homeland security, so he must have special privileges. Perhaps he was doing some wiretapping.

#tdih On Jan. 25, 1972, Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress, opened her historic campaign for President. She stated that 1972 must be the year that “women, blacks, brown, the young, the old, activists for social change, and just people who are tired of reading the election results before the votes are counted – are going to prove that our candidates and our policies and our government are not the exclusive preserve of the financial community, the political establishment, and the opinion polls.” Chisholm was outspoken on behalf of civil rights legislation, the Equal Rights Amendment, and a minimum family income; she opposed wiretapping, domestic spying, and the Vietnam War.
