Zuhause muss ich auch mit Programmen aus dem Büro arbeiten, die nur unter Windows laufen. Bisher benutzte ich dafür eine alte WindowsXP-Gurke, die ich kurz vor dem Abrauchen virtualisieren konnte. Gestern habe ich mich dann entschlossen, ein aktuelles Windows zu installieren, denn so richtig rund läuft es unter XP nicht mehr. Die Installation selbst ging dann auch recht flott, aber dann folgte eine Update-Orgie, die sich über Stunden hinzog: Insgesamt rund 150 Updates mussten nach und nach installiert werden, oft gefolgt von Neustarts, Sicherheitsermahnungen und bedrohlich klingenden Meldungen. Dann noch ein Virenscanner, der natürlich als Erstes nach einem Update schreit, ein Programm zum Erzeugen von PDFs und eines zum Anzeigen derselben (bei anderen Systemen funktioniert das "out of the box").

Die Software, die ich zum Arbeiten brauche, hatte ich auch nach vier Stunden noch nicht angefangen zu installieren. Was für ein Müll!
