I was exploring an old Danish barn and these are a few pics of what was on the window sills

A few of Winterthur's many windows taken during a passing snow storm Feb. 26 2014.

While I was here presenting a technology overview to the graduate students in our Art Conservation program, we were pounded by a short passing storm. We got about 4 inches of fresh snow in 90 mins.

That on top of old snow, slush and ice made getting back to Newark an interesting endeavor in my Smart Car.

The Smart and I did fine unlike many others I passed along the side of the road exchanging insurance information.

If you're in the area, this is a wonderful place to visit. The house contains a vast collection of American Decorative Arts and the grounds and children's garden are really lovely to stroll through.

FR Mulhouse 2006 - Trompe l'oeil windows. What fun. Notice that the artist even rendered the ripples in the glass in the right window.

dorrin-bonk & finn sharing one of the den windows. it was too cold that day to open it all the way (or at all actually, brrr) but the cats were going mental over the birds and squirrels so i had to crack it open just a bit for them. the photo was taken from 2 rooms away with the virtual zoom (is that what it's called?) , hence the crappy quality.

the arts and crafts folk moved in and left their mark. Not that that's a problem, they even wanted opening the window to be a pleasure.

These five photos complete my documentation of Southern Cross from our summer camping trip.

Looking through the porch window of the abandoned cafe at Southern Cross, Montana

Seemingly impossible window sills. Designed by M.C. Escher? The illusion is caused by shadows cast by the sun from narrow window sills. This Florentine Renaissance styled "Finance Center Building" opened in 1927 on the corner of Montgomery and California in San Francisco, now owned the Omni Hotel.

There will be many more pics I suspect, as soon as we get the little bugger used to getting up while there's enough light!

A also finished painting the windows, the interiors around the windows, and attached them with wood glue. Still struggling with the shutters. I used a glossy black initially and did not like the shine. Then I tried black craft paint and that is too chalky. May mix them together to get something in between or spray them with a matte finish.

These are windows that I modified from the original kit. I removed the attached shutters and added strip wood on each side so the shutters could be painted a different color. I really like the windows without shutters, but will probably attach black shutters.

I am so ready for this wood working to be done. I want to play with minis and make fimo food!
