Some of us are old enough to remember when nearly every car had a wing window that could be opened for ventilation. They have disappeared thanks to air conditioning and the need for more streamlined cars. This one is on a 40's era Ford and the safety glass has deteriorated, resulting in embedded shapes and colors. An oriel window (bay window) within Mont Orgueil castle, Jersey. Bay windows became a hugely popular feature of residential Victorian architecture in the British Isles from about the 1870s and hold a continuous appeal up to this day. They are used to increase the flow of natural light into a building, thereby also making a room appear larger.

I found a big window again (after 2 years) at the supermarket yesterday. I've been getting irritated at only having small ones in houses. Although I do have the shop windows I could use - if I'd only remembered.
