These apartment dwellers inhabit a former hospital and medical office building.

Real estate websites such as "Spokeo" assert that it was built in 1915. I believe this to be correct, because:

I HAVE RESEARCHED some history of the building, using Sanborn fire insurance maps at the Library of Congress website, and Freeport city directories at ancestrylibrary.com:

• Its address used to be 179 Galena Street, and nowadays is 229 W Main Street.

• It is absent from the July 1910 fire insurance map, and the 1912 city directory.

• It appears on the March 1918 fire insurance map, identified as "Emergency Hospital," and in the 1919 city directory, identified as "Medical Building" and "Emergency Hospital," with a physician and dentist listed as additional occupants.

Is your apartment the one with a dumpster directly outside the window.
