and a Happy Weekend for you all!

Yes, spring is only about 3 months away :-)

More Anemones in my personal "from-spring-to-autumn" Anemone Collection.

Zephyranthes candida was first described by John Lindley in 1823 as Amaryllis candida.

Zephyranthes candida, with common names that include autumn zephyrlily, white windflower and Peruvian swamp lily, is a species of rain lily native to South America including Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil. The species is widely cultivated as an ornamental and reportedly naturalized in many places (South Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, central and southern China, Korea and other).

This is a shot of a windflower from Friday's photo session with my new Helios 44-2. Unfortunately there wasn't that much light since sun was already pretty low, but I think that exactly this lack of light creates a certain atmosphere. Hope you like it!

Lespedeza (‘Hagi’ in Japanese) is a genus of perennial plants in the pea family. Since ‘Hagi’ has long been loved as one of the seven autumnal windflowers in the Japanese tradition, there are many wild species and cultivars in Japan. ‘Asuka-no-hagi’ in the picture is said a cultivar based on L. bicolor ('Yama-hagi') and/or L. homoloba ('Tsukushi-hagi').

Please see also the closeup shots of 'Hagi' I and 'Hagi' II.

An immature damsel bug enjoys the company of the developing stamen and pistils of a wind flower (Anemone nemerosa) on a cool damp morning. Damsel bugs are true bugs, hemiptera in the family Nabidae, and not to be confused with damsel flies. They are predatory insects that consume herbivorous insects, and are thus considered a beneficial biocontrol agent by horticulturalists. Damsel bugs have powerful front legs that resemble those of the praying mantis, which are useful for subduing prey.

I actually wanted to delete this image, but after cropping it and doing a few edits, I really like it. I hope you like it too!

Another shot from last Friday taken with the Helios 44-2. I'm really amazed what kind of bokeh this old lens is able to produce. The colors in the original image looked pretty flat and hence I bumped up the contrast a little. Hope you like it!

♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥

I got a message from Svitlana from Kherson, Ukraine today and I'd like to share it with you... the hope and the despair told by someone who is forced to live it.

"We really, really hope, Eva, that next week will be better. On Friday evening, the fights took place on the outskirts of our town. And we really hoped that by Saturday morning, the occupiers would be gone. They, indeed, went somewhere before the battle, but then returned again and set up roadblocks. After the events in Bucha, we are now afraid not of endless shelling, but of violence against our children. We don't have weapons, so it hurts my soul that I won't be able to protect my son and my 13-year-old daughter.

We live in the expectation that our troops will still move closer to Kherson and liberate it. Today in Kherson, the invaders dispersed a rally with shots, and instead of the Ukrainian flag they hung their rag on the building of the city administration. All day long searched all cars and checked documents. They say they're looking for their deserters. After ours defeated an entire company near Nikolaev, many deserted today. They don't want to die for ideals they don't understand, but that doesn't make them any less evil. A cornered beast is even more dangerous. But we will try to survive."

Sweet little Arctic anemones aka Arctic Windflower (anemone parviflora var. parviflora) are blooming

For a safe and healthy HMBT !

An artistic creative abstract version of Anemones in my garden.

Edited with a triple white matte frame and texture added.

The most significant anemone flower meaning is anticipation. This is because the anemone flowers close up at night and open back up in the morning. Due to its wild nature, the flower specifically symbolizes relaxation and serves as a reminder to enjoy the moment in order to take in opportunities at the right time.

Anemone Blanda White form

- Anemone means Windflower in Greek.

Anemone is a species of flowering plant in the genus Anemone, native to the Mediterranean region.

Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new.

Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thanx for your visit, M, (*_*)

Happy Sunday ! Bon Dimanche !

Inside photography.

We went for a walk in the Wollongong Botanic Gardens to the Woodland Gardens section. It was the first time we had visited the since the rains. Signs of the high water flows were everywhere. The (anemone) Japanese Windflowers must have liked the conditions are they were doing well and were in full bloom.

Here's another windflower image, which is actually a horizontal crop of a vertical frame, but that was the only angle where I was able to get those flare rays :) Hope you like this painterly one!

From a couple of weeks ago when at least there was some sun :-)

A couple of flypapers used here, one Fly edge and Rainbow Trout.

HBW everyone.

Feb 2012

During the last two weeks, nature has exploded around me. Suddenly everything is green and everywhere it is blooming, humming and chirping. I love it.

This is a photo from the Trieb valley in Saxony from the beginning of this annual restart. The day was quite cold and rainy. Actually more of a "I read a book by the fireplace day". The trees were all still bare and the forest looked more like late autumn. But in some places on the forest floor I have discovered small islands of windflowers. Then I felt, yes ... it's spring and I'm glad to be here. That wasn't entirely true. I was happy to be there anyway.

Yet another windflower image, which does not have any special bokeh, but it has some beautiful rays and some colorful flare. Hope you like it!

Kvitveis (Anemone nemorosa)

Anemonoides sylvestris (syn. Anemone sylvestris), known as snowdrop anemone or snowdrop windflower, a perennial plant flowering in spring, native to meadows and dry deciduous woodlands.

The species grows 0.30–0.46 m tall with white flowers which bloom in spring.

Yet another picture that I've taken with my Helios 44-2. It is not the most colorful since the sun was already setting, but I like the dark background and the illuminated windflower. For me, it looks like it is night and the party on the forest floor can begin ;-)
