besides providing renewable power, these windmills can alert you whether you have a headwind coming up.

Curt walking past one of the giant wind turbines near Vandellòs. ---And the view from the top of the ridge was great.

I was very impressed by the extensive Wind Turbines in the state of Iowa. I know there are plenty of states producing wind power, but in my travels, these turbines are the most I've seen in one place. Good for Iowa.

It was very difficult to get good shots of these turbines while driving. I hope to make another trip for a close-up view.

Makara is a beach settlement and surrounding bays and headlands on the Wellington west coast, New Zealand. Popular with sea fishers, scuba and snorkelers, and lobster fishers, it is also one of Wellington city's seasside playgrounds with sheltered beaches suitable for swimming, sailing tramping local walks and birdwatching. From its heights are panoramic views up the west coast toward Mama and Kapiti Islands, and west and southwest across Cook Strait to the South Island.

Which was I getting a photo of? Or was it both of them....?

Taken en route to WSKG in Binghamton. We drove by the 50 turbine project at Cohocton Wind Farm. Operation began in January 2009 - the farm produces enough energy to power 50,000 homes.

I got lucky this week when a storm came across Lake Huron as the sun was rising over the windturbines near Kincardine.
