An easy going weekend watching some amazing tennis. It was so good seeing Andy Murray win the Wimbledon final, even got emotional with such an incredible result. Such a contrast from last year, even to the last point I had my fingers crossed really unsure it was going to happen till it did.

The second part of a huge weekend for me, the culmination of a lifetime's dream.

I went to Wimbledon with my dear friend Sarah. We had talked about doing this when we were at school!

Sarah goes and queues every year so I knew I was in safe hands.

Monday was the big day and a very early start! I knew I wanted to makean effort to glam up, and we had to be up very early to pack up tents and put them in storage so I had to get up and do my makeup in a tent at 4.30am!

The queuing to get into the grounds was chaos on the first day due to not enough security staff, so we were in the queue for over 6 hours. But it was totally woth it - we got ont Centre Court to watch Djokovic< Venus Williams and Jannik Sinner.

An amazing day, which I will never forget.

At the campsite, all ready to join the queue.

Now in her 78th year, Mum continues to watch Wimbledon religiously from her armchair. A staunch follower for several decades, she has an instant recall of all the leading player personalities, styles, tactics and personal histories going as far back as the 1950s when it was first televised on BBC TV.

Overview: it is officially called "All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club" and it consist of 18 tournament grass courts, eight American clay courts, two acrylic courts and five indoor courts.

There are also 22 Aorangi Park grass courts, which serve as competitors' practice courts before and during The Championships.

The grass courts can be used from May until September.

The grass has been cut to 8 mm since 1995, and 100% perennial ryegrass has been used for its strength since 2001 (prior to that, it was 70% perennial rye and 30% creeping red fescue), specially grown in Yorkshire.

The courts are renovated in September, using nine tons of grass seed annually.

Every year I have a shoot at Wimbledon.

A very interesting place!

Have a fun day, I did, and thank you, M, (*_*)

Wimbledon’s Centre Court, part of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, is perhaps the most famous tennis court in the world. It was built in 1922 when the club moved to its current location and renovated in 2009 when a retractable roof was added.

This build was commissioned by a patron as a birthday gift for her mother. I started with the court itself (which is purposely exaggerated in size) and worked out from there. The real challenge of this build was the exterior of the building as there are very few photographs of the site (even the patron was surprised at this). The irregular nature of the building made the connections quite tricky. The build arrived completely intact in the U.K. with no gluing needed. I hope this family will enjoy the model for many years.

Day 351

This is my sweet and precious bunny Wimbledon ♥

I was at Wimbledon long before Boris Becker, in August 1984 to be precise. I was a bit bored of it all......but the sandwich was good :-)
