"Since its release of about 2000 diplomatic cables (as of January 7th, 2011), Wikileaks has been subject to extraordinary pressures, seemingly at the behest of the US government. Amazon and EveryDNS have denied Wikileaks internet service and Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, and Bank of America have been prevented supporters from donating money to Wikileaks. This is despite the fact that Wikileaks has not even been charged with a crime.
Unfortunately, the situation has gotten even worse. The press has been spreading lies about Wikileaks. Mainstream media outlets do not appear to be doing even the most rudimentary fact-checking. The most blatant of these lies is the idea that Wikileaks has “indiscriminately dumped 250,000 cables on the internet”. This is flat-out false.
A few news organizations, including NPR and InformationWeek, have corrected this mistake, and NPR has even offered an apology. By contrast, most news organizations ranging from the AP to the Wall Street Journal continue to print this falsehood.
We call upon all news organizations to correct previous articles and statements, to issue apologies to their readers, and to take steps to prevent this mistake from occurring in any future articles and shows.
We will be protesting outside the TransAmerica pyramid, across from a San Francisco office of the New York Times, on Saturday, January 15th, at 4pm. On that day, we will be joining in protesting against the repression of Wikileaks with many others around the world, including Washington, DC, and several cities in Canada and Australia.
To counter the New York Times’s censorship of reality, we plan to publish the released cables on the walls of their building. In addition, participants will be provided cable printouts and markers and encouraged to throw down their artistic abilities by adding a graphic representation of their favorite cable to the Cablegate Coloring Book.

1,000 days in prison without trial: protesters gathered around the world on February 23, 2013 against the ongoing persecution of the accused Wikileaks whistleblower behind exposing war crimes, torture, and other abuses by the US military.

Public meeting in support of WikiLeaks and Julian Assange - London, 07/02/2011
As WikiLeaks' editor-in-chief Julian Assange fights against legal attempts this week by the Swedish prosecutor to have him extradited to Sweden from where there is a very real fear by many that he will be illegally 'rendered' to the United States where there have been many open, public calls by politicians and pundits for him to be executed or even just murdered on the street without trial, there was a public meeting in support of Assange and WikiLeaks organised by the Stop The War Coalition.
In front of a packed audience of 300 enthusiastic supporters in London's Conway Hall, the speakers were peace activist Jemima Khan, convenor of Stop The War Lindsey German , president of Stop The War Tony Benn and veteran peace activist and historian Tariq Ali, all of whom had attended Assange's first trial day at Belmarsh Magistrate's Court. Assange's legal proceedings have been moved to Belmarsh specifically to make it much more difficult and inconvenient for his supporters to gather and protest.

Human Rights Day Vigil to support Freedom of Speech and Wikileaks
After a speech and introduction by respected Australian journalist and film maker John Pilger, English rock musician Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame, performs outside the UK Home Office accompanied by Andy Fairweather Low at a rally against deportation of imprisoned Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange, who is currently detained at the high security Belmarsh prison following conviction for breach of bail.
Assange's supporters fear he will be deported to the U.S. and face life in prison for publishing information which includes incriminating evidence the U.S. and UK engaged in possible war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This installation shows this collision of public and private that sits at the heart of the Wikileaks project. Stacks of printed paper – tens of thousands of emails and documents and photographs – show the macro political machinations that most people assume are being revealed by the database. However, when an iPad is placed above the top of the papers a hidden narrative is revealed to the viewer, a deeply personal love story of a couple who fell in love and then broke up, all found in the emails that were released as part of a data-dump, collapsing this collision of public and private.

Bradley Manning is a hero to many here and around the world for recoiling at the wanton killing of civilians he discovered while analyzing files in Baghdad. To the US government, which has prosecuted only a few low-level soldiers for those crimes, Bradley - who has spent 3 years in prison before trial - is the criminal, and we, the people he wanted to be informed with the true story of the wars, are the "enemy." On Thursday June 19, 2014, I photographed this campaigner holding a placard put together by the campaigning group Justice for Assange at a vigil to mark the 2nd anniversary of Julian Assange, WikiLeaks' founder and editor-in-chief, entering the Ecuadorian Embassy in London to seek political asylum, fearing that he would end up being extradited to the US from Sweden, where he is accused of sexual offences (claims which he denies). His asylum claim was accepted on August 16, 2012.
WikiLeaks' work, exposing US crimes through documents released by Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning, has, of course, been enormously influential, and I am pleased to have worked with WikiLeaks as a media partner on the release of the classified military files from Guantánamo in April 2011.

"Since its release of about 2000 diplomatic cables (as of January 7th, 2011), Wikileaks has been subject to extraordinary pressures, seemingly at the behest of the US government. Amazon and EveryDNS have denied Wikileaks internet service and Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, and Bank of America have been prevented supporters from donating money to Wikileaks. This is despite the fact that Wikileaks has not even been charged with a crime.
Unfortunately, the situation has gotten even worse. The press has been spreading lies about Wikileaks. Mainstream media outlets do not appear to be doing even the most rudimentary fact-checking. The most blatant of these lies is the idea that Wikileaks has “indiscriminately dumped 250,000 cables on the internet”. This is flat-out false.
A few news organizations, including NPR and InformationWeek, have corrected this mistake, and NPR has even offered an apology. By contrast, most news organizations ranging from the AP to the Wall Street Journal continue to print this falsehood.
We call upon all news organizations to correct previous articles and statements, to issue apologies to their readers, and to take steps to prevent this mistake from occurring in any future articles and shows.
We will be protesting outside the TransAmerica pyramid, across from a San Francisco office of the New York Times, on Saturday, January 15th, at 4pm. On that day, we will be joining in protesting against the repression of Wikileaks with many others around the world, including Washington, DC, and several cities in Canada and Australia.
To counter the New York Times’s censorship of reality, we plan to publish the released cables on the walls of their building. In addition, participants will be provided cable printouts and markers and encouraged to throw down their artistic abilities by adding a graphic representation of their favorite cable to the Cablegate Coloring Book.
