~~~It was cloudless last night and therefore there were multiple reports of a suspicious red flash.
The Origami Institute for Strange Flying Things (STF) has investigated it and comes to the conclusion, that it is not Santa Claus, but the Witch Queen of New Orleans, also known as Marie La-Voodoo-Veau, the Wicked Witch.
Her help has been enlisted by other witches with less magical powers for one of the famous potions, temporarily turning you into a skeleton. And why???
Well, tomorrow a party is organized by Smile on Saturday! :-) - group and you only may enter if it has something to do with 'Bones'.~~~~
Maybe I will see you there? ;-))
Thanks Juan for the inspiration for this song:
Lady of Death
Up all night
Vampire kisses
No cross across her breast
Just before dawn
The carriage arrives
One more moment divine
Vampire kisses of death
Twilight has come and gone
Her crypt awaits
An unending secret
She keeps til midnight tonight
Lady of Death
Vampress Dawn
Eternally brings
Immortality for you all
thanks to my fantastic mother in law for playing along tonight :)
One look at a pointed, wide brimmed black hat tells you all you need to know: WITCH! Goes back to childhood for me, watching the film Wizard of Oz and Margaret Hamilton's chilling portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West. Scared me then and scares me still. Terrifying images that are impossible to forget. Over the years I've seen many variations on that original witch theme. They usually center on the face of a hag, distorted, covered with warts, and just ugly. That visualization just looks cartoonish to me; it actually makes the witch look less scary. Much better to leave as much to the imagination as possible. The fear factor kicks in the moment a witch's presence has been established. My mind takes it from there as the terror I felt as a kid watching Oz comes racing back to envelop me one again. Witches aren't supposed to be something you see from a distance and cautiously approach. Much better they suddenly appear before you like a Jack-in-the box. And if it occurs in the middle of a dark, desolate cornfield, all the better.
You know it's Halloween when wicked witches start turning up dead.
This is my fourth tribute to my favorite Broadway musical "Wicked". In fact, this is a tribute to its film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The film turned out to be a PERFECT adaptation of the first act of the musical, so I highly recommend to watch it. :)
Since I already built everyone's favorite scene (Defying Gravity) a few years ago, I decided to make a poster, because I like it so much. I don't have any "Wicked" sets yet, so my own Glinda and Elphaba made a comeback. I'm so sorry, I forgot to stick tiara to Glinda's head, it was ready on the table, but when I took pictures I just forgot... I also tried to make the Emerald City glow like I did for Zelena's iconic scene, but it wasn't as noticeable against the light background. Anyway, I hope you'll like it! :)
A rather sinister looking collection of vines on sticks. Do not visit at night!
Well this little witch turned down the Monster Mash party for her own Witch’s Mash!
Pull up a seat, open those ears and listen to the eeries and howls crawl out of that piano and hit the keys for a good ‘ol Halloween brew of a party!
Lots of goodies at lots of great events!
Story Book Character Day at Utopia
No less than three pumpkins to be carved this year thanks to the kids!
The Wicked Witch grinned to herself. Sure, Glinda's magic was powerful, but the Good Witch also had a couple things working against her: (1) she had the sun in her eyes, and (2) she had never seen just how fast her wicked cousin could draw her wand.
The Wicked Witch was going to knock this bitch on her taffeta-covered ass and send her back to the Emerald City in an urn.
"Straightway a great flock of wild crows came flying toward her, enough to darken the sky.
And the Wicked Witch said to the King Crow, "Fly at once to the strangers; peck out their eyes and tear them to pieces."
Occasionly we've found great field, filled with crows. Why not to shoot, when you can do it? But what should you do, if you have really big umbrella softbox, have really really strong wind, have model at great location, and have no assistans?
You can try to hold your big umbrella with left hand, and shooting with the right hand, and rest between shots, if you don't wont to be gone by the wind.
3 SB-800 at 1/1, attached to Morris Tilt Head. Usual umbrella is blasting inside out, if opened at the strong wind, but umbrella softbox remains at working state.
Eight platoons of Munchkins were marching towards the Emerald City to defend it, clearly not understanding what the Witch's target was. Intelligence reported that Glinda was in her castle; five squadrons of Winged Monkeys and four full platoons of Winkie Guardsmen were converging on her position to contain her there. Another three Winkie platoons were moving up the Yellow Brick Road behind Dorothy and her cohorts, driving them toward Her Wickedness and Her escort squadrons. The twister to the north was judged to be of no consequence.
General Hrakkar was pleased. The ruby slippers would soon be in his mistress' hands.
I don't think it's Avon calling.
Seasonal window display in Milford, MI caught my attention (many years ago). Fun concept but it was pretty much red, orange, and gray. After several attempts to change the colors, I hit upon Jixipix Romantic Photos. RP is basically a monochrome, soft focus filter, but it has several sections, one called "romantic colors". It's primarily a selective color application, fun to play with because you never know how the colors will come out. Often it's not what I'm trying for. But today - I selected "yellow" and the red/gray magically became orange and green. Happy Shocktober!
Mistakes were made.
This was the second mug rug I sent to my partner. She had a very specific "if you could work in OZ or the ruby slippers, that'd be cool" request. So I did what I could. At the beginning of each day, you get to smash the witch with your mug & send Dorothy on her journey. good times.
