Last full moon in 2020. It’s been a winding road, but we’ve navigated through and now we are running down a new path.

Somehow this goes well with yesterday's shot of a tractor pile. This is one of the entrances to our local arena, site of many a hockey game, curling bonspiel, and indoor rodeo.
I liked this when I shot it and still like it 20 months later - but there has never seemed to be a "right" time to post it. Until now.

My younger brother taking aim with my rifle, it isn’t loaded (I don’t trust him that much) and no Pete’s were harmed in the making of this image.

Atop what was once Molly's Cafe in New Castle, Colorado, I find the weather vane no longer flying west. Instead, she points her long beak and fervent intentions upward...as do I.
Molly's Cafe was my first official destination when arriving in Colorado, from New Orleans, 30 years ago. Molly Yeoman and her husband, Richard, then an elderly Native American couple, had been my father's dear friends. They ran the cafe, with boarding house upstairs, where he stayed when he traveled to Colorado to hunt deer.
I remember, as a girl, my sad thoughts as he departed every year. "What would he have for Thanksgiving dinner?" Knowing full well it would not be the fattened turkey, pumpkin pie, and sweet southern style iced tea that graced our hospitable dining table. "Would he miss us while he suffered over his camp fire, eating canned beans?"
Years later, my father's annual trips to the paradise known only as "Colorado", and his stories of wilderness adventure, began to turn my heart. I envied and romanticized his campfire beans, anxiously awaiting his return, knowing his red and black flannel shirt would still carry the faint scent of a smoky, star filled night before the flames.
Molly and Richard have long passed, their farm against the river replaced by the condo bondage of urban blight. Molly's Cafe is an art studio, the door painted purple, and the weather vane, whose westward direction has held for decades, now points the wind and me in another direction.
More to come...

Um-ber-ella plant again. Glowing a tad, too. It's like the light builds inside the bud until it must burst and spew itself forth. Should have been a poet, yes? A fine word, spew.
Seasons greetings from Newton Stewart! One of our neighbours, Janis, treated us to her rendition of ‘Santa’s a Scotsman.’ She tells me it was often played by Ken Bruce. She had forgotten some of the words so had to get them on her mobile! It was superb! A socially distanced drink and Christmas cake was enjoyed outside by all.
One single long exposure.
Model/suit/props: Tribal Lotta
Lights: Vincent Gerber & me
This one is an ode to the "why not?" method. After multiples fun ones with different colours, Vincent Gerber has suggested to try one with the bare white lights.
Even if my initial reaction was a "Meh" (Dan Whitaker style) -as a colours-addicted junkie, I was convinced it would be "flat" and lacking contrasts-, my mindset moved to "Well, why not ? We have nothing to lose at trying".
We've tried and oh my... I was so wrong! I should never ever presume the result before trying
Sure, it does not have the usual colourful light painting esthetics -even if it's light painting (long exposure, moving light sources, walking in the dark while avoiding the pits, 2 flashlights, one ring binder: all the boxes are ticked)- but I like it a lot.
NB: In post production, I've mistreated one or two cursors to create a slight colour shifting as a little extra "oomph" for the final image. Because... why not?
