I've heard of hanging ten as a surfing term, but I don't think this is what they had in mind! To be fair, it was a wild day at Port Fairy with a big swell bringing in some occasional huge waves, so this was a regular occurrence on the day.
(No surfers were harmed during the making of this shot!)

Why did somebody leave a pair of what appeared to be a perfectly good pair of sneaks hanging on this bar on the levee in Alviso, California?
Hey! Why is he allowed in there?
Well, why not. Both of you can have one. Make sure all the bears get one.

A clematis flower finding its way through a ceanothus shrub. I could not have invented this colour arrangement. It just "happened". And this makes me think that I have scissors in my head. What I mean is the photographer's temptation of controlling the colour arrangement. But colours can also simply "happen" - without my ego policing their boundaries. And why not?
This is one of the ones I went to Montana for. I would've been happy with a train here in almost any weather. When we left paradise the weather was cloudy and overcast. As we rolled east, it turned into beautiful storm lighting as MRL's day gas rolls along the unbelievably beautiful 10th subdivision.
....won't you let me in?
Rather strange: last March Mr Maine Coon was sitting by a pot of hyacinths on the patio looking into the living room, willing me to let him into the house. And yesterday there he was again this March, trying again.
He obviously has a home, is well-fed, has identity info on him and has been following a route through our garden from somewhere to somewhere for quite some time.......
I want to say that I admire all the parents. This is a great effort to say 'no' to a child when you are seeing his sad face. Sometimes this "no" is necessary for kid's good.
I don't know if I will have my own family... It's great to live for somebody... God knows.
Now my holidays are ending... I'll have kids at school. 18 children... Big family ;)
When I was growing up I was lucky enough to live in a home that had a varied and quite extensive garden/orchard and outbuildings. When it came to birdlife the house sparrow was the most common sight in our back yard. Time has moved on for not just me but the house sparrow. It's numbers have fallen by 60% in the UK over the last forty years. Quite why, there is still some debate, but it would seem that agricultural practices and a general tidying up of garden space has removed sources of food and nesting sites.

There is always someone watching in the darkness. “It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you.”

OK, it's an infrared photo. No artificial light, just the one coming through the window. I have even gone to the limits of what you can technically do with a screw-on IR filter (portrait photo for example). Yes, it's possible. And yes, green leaves are standing out and the whole image gets this unusual appearance. And beyond that? I am still struggling with the 'photographic identity' of IR. Fuji X-Pro1.
With nothing better to do and favorable shooting conditions, I followed this NTWLIN manifest west on the Wayzata Sub for a ways. Here they pass through Howard Lake, with one of the many ice fishing houses are visible here.
....why I am fasinated with thes sport field lights. They are all silver, really they are. It is the setting sun that is turning some gold. Gotta luv it.
We were out at Cadman's Pool in the evening and interesting to see that the geese and their goslings leave the pond, cross a path and forage for food there
You left us much too soon, my friend.
You were always ahead of us all, that's true.
Please save me a seat
Right next to you;
So we can catch up
When I get there one day.
At the Washington DC Wharf, where restaurants, boat rides and walks are a thing...when it's not too wet.
