Try to find the gray squirrel which blends quite well into these Ozark autumn woods. . .

Maritime textures at Iceland's Northwest coast below the Westfjords, where the mountains clearly continue into the sea and their peaks can be seen like this. The entire place must be impossible to navigate with all those hidden rocks and peaks under the water surface.

Snow shrouds the Capitol, an apt metaphor for the ongoing shutdown … but the city looked gorgeous on this snowy day.

Where are you, my Little Prince?

Where have you gone from my book's pages?

Are you wandering at a desert? Again,

you're talking with an echo among the stones?

Are you, there where the golden car is shining,

watching the Earth in your dreams,

where from the past days this fairy tale,

like a memory, stayed ...

In a world, where no one loves roses,

Forever someone was left alone.

This picture is dedicated to my wonderful friend,

who suddenly died

what do you mean I should've taken a left at albuquerque you definitely said a right, no no I am very sure you said a right

You are back... (said the wind, and seemed happy)

I want to make a wish... (replied the little girl smiling)...

A wish? What kind of magic is that?... (the wind was once again puzzled)

It's an old magic... (the girl answered quickly)

But I am from a time before the time and I don't know about it...

Will you tell me more about this magic? (asked the wind, still puzzled)

I learned about it from a story told by my grandmothers... They are old and know so many things... I like it when they tell me stories... (and for a second, the girl seemed to drift away to a different time and place)

But now is not the time for tales...

Look!... The dandelions... Let's make a wish...

And the girl rushed to pick a dandelion... She closed her eyes, made a wish and blew the seeds into the air...

Like little ballerinas they drifted towards the sky, following the clouds...

See... It's easy... You just close your eyes and think of something you desire... and then you blow the seeds away... They carry your wish to the sky and make clouds...

Look how many wishes are here waiting ... (and the girl pointed out the meadow full of dandelions) and look where they go... (the clouds were gossamer like... a thin veil made of wishes)

Continued from I can find snowdrops...

This was so funny, my husband put this corn up so I could get some pics of squirrels. Well, the corn kept disappearing and now we know why!!! These were some of the biggest crows I have ever seen! I caught them in the act!

California Ground Squirrel (Spermophilus beecheyi)

Emigrant Lake - Jackson County - Oregon - USA

"The California ground squirrel can be found in south central Oregon, western Washington and most parts of California... The majority of the California ground squirrel's diet is made up of plant parts like leaves, stems, flowers, seeds, berries and fruits. Occasionally, it will eat insects and small animals... The California ground squirrel is diurnal, that means it is most active in the daytime. It lives in colonies, but the squirrels tend not to socialize with each other. Several squirrels may share a burrow, but they each will have their own entrance. Burrows are made under a tree, log or rock. The California ground squirrel can climb trees, but it spends most of its time on the ground."

Sawley Marina, located near Nottingham, offers a picturesque setting with plenty of opportunities to capture stunning reflections of barges. Here are some tips to help you take great photos of barge reflections:

Golden Hour: As always, shooting during the golden hours (early morning or late afternoon) provides beautiful, warm light that enhances reflections.

Calm Waters: Look for calm, still water to get the clearest reflections. Early mornings are usually best for this, as winds tend to be lighter.

Composition: Use the rule of thirds to position the barge and its reflection. Experiment with different compositions to find the most visually appealing shot.

Symmetry: Emphasize the symmetry between the barge and its reflection. This can create a very balanced and pleasing image.

Depth of Field: Use a smaller aperture (higher f-number) to ensure both the barge and its reflection are in sharp focus. This will help capture details in both the barge and its mirror image.

Polarizing Filter: A polarizing filter can reduce glare on the water and enhance the colors of the barge and its reflection.

Perspective: Get low to the water's surface to accentuate the reflection. Shooting from different angles can provide unique and interesting perspectives.

Foreground Interest: Include elements in the foreground, like the marina's edge or other boats, to add depth and context to your photo.

Editing: In post-processing, enhance the contrast and colors to make the reflections more pronounced. Adjusting the clarity and sharpness can also help bring out details.

Sawley Marina's tranquil environment and the vibrant colors of the barges make it a fantastic spot for photography. Enjoy capturing the beauty of the reflections! 😊

Reflecting back to last year and the end of 2016 when I was treated to regular sightings of these occasional winter migrants.

Looks like we will have to wait now until the end of the year to have a chance of seeing these beautiful birds.

Lake Geneva, known as Lac Léman in French, is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Europe. It is located on the border between Switzerland and France, surrounded by the stunning Alps and Jura mountains1. The lake is crescent-shaped, with the longer northern shore in Switzerland and the southern shore in France.

Here are some interesting facts about Lac Léman:

Size: It spans about 73 km (45 mi) in length and 14 km (8.7 mi) in width.

Depth: The average depth is 154.4 meters, with the deepest point reaching 310 meters.

Water Source: The main source of the lake is the Rhône River, which enters near Villeneuve and exits in Geneva.

Scenic Views: The lake offers spectacular vistas, especially from the northern side towards the south and far west, where the Alpine mountains are close to the shores.

It's a popular destination for tourists, offering activities like boating, hiking, and wine tasting in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed vineyards of Lavaux

okay, just sending this up because it's 12-21-12, a date that many have talked about. What will happen? Anything, nothing, subtle, dramatic? I dunno... won't know until it happens, or doesn't...

of course I had lots of thoughts about what to write here, but can I remember now? Nah. Of course not. Been shoveling snow a lot today though, so the brain might feel a little frozen too.

This Red-tailed Hawk was sticking out like a sore thumb on that tree. Now that all the leaves are gone it is so nice to see them. The weather was nice today so I hope he did catch some dinner.
