An immature male broad-tailed hummingbird pauses, trying to decide where to begin feeding on this bee balm flower. He proceeded (as they always do) to hit each tiny "floweret" to get every little bit of nectar.

Today, I've got a floral tribute for You.
When I passed this bush in the summer (in fact I was just on my way back to the car) suddenly Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave started to sing inside of my head. They still do it, every time I am watching this photograph. This was the decisive factor for the titel and the main reason, why I finally stopped there.

Als ich im Sommer an diesem Busch vorbei kam (eigentlich war ich auf dem Weg zurück zum Auto) fingen plötzlich Kylie Minogue und Nick Cave in meinem Kopf an zu singen. Sie tun dies bis heute, sobald ich das Foto betrachte. Das war der ausschlaggebende Punkt für den Titel und dafür, dass ich überhaupt stehen geblieben bin.

We were heading back from the Sass de Putia (Dolomites, South Tyrol) to our holiday residence and stopped at this point hoping to see the alpenglow on the peaks of the Geisler Group (Odle)
And we were very lucky and experienced a breathtaking alpenglow that evening (I might upload an image of it when I finally was able to sift through the many photos I took that evening) ... this photo was taken while we were waiting for the alpenglow to begin. The sun was slowly setting behind the mountains and created lovely golden hues : )

Wir waren auf dem Rückweg vom Peitlerkofel (Dolomiten, Südtirol) zu unserer Ferienwohnung und hielten an dieser Stelle an in der Hoffnung, das Alpenglühen auf den Geislerspitzen (Odle) zu sehen
Und wir hatten Glück und erlebten an diesem Abend ein atemberaubendes Alpenglühen (ich werde vielleicht ein Bild davon hochladen, wenn ich endlich in der Lage war, die vielen Fotos, die ich an diesem Abend gemacht habe, zu sichten) ... dieses Foto habe ich aufgenommen, während wir auf den Beginn des Alpenglühens warteten. Die Sonne ging langsam hinter den Bergen unter und erzeugte schöne goldene Farbtöne : )

May 12 was chosen as it coincided with the birth date of Florence Nightingale, the celebrated English social reformer and statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale became chronically ill in her mid-thirties after returning from the Crimean War; the M.E.-like illness often left her bedridden during the last 50 years of her life.
We spent a couple of days in Norfolk this week. I took the opportunity to do some ICM photography while walking along the beach at East Runton. HSoS

Is there anything more beautiful than the colors of spring. The reality looks currently still different. The weather here in Berlin unfortunately still gray in gray. What the heck I still have some shots from last year, this would be here so one.
