Something is going wrong when the camera with its impressive algorithms and countless AF options forces itself into the centre and, hence, between photographer and object. Ideally, I would think, we photographers ought to use the camera as if it was not there. Just focussing on the composition and the 'essence' of the object and having the settings run in the background. I am not advocating 'point and shoot', I am saying that a camera should be built in such a way that we can 'forget' about it and focus on taking the picture. I think my older cameras do that. My newer ones are much more sophisticated and what they are increasingly trying to do is take over decisions I could make myself. What is my reaction? Number one, I prefer using my older cameras. And two, when using my sophisticated ones, I turn off a lot of their computer-powered procedures. I wonder what you think.
When the western sky was glowing with splendor of the setting sun, the eastern sky was dyed in a fascinating ash pink color.
I think you can believe in what you want, but in front of fear or science every religion, if not guided by blind ignorance, loses its value !

The remains of a long ago tree ... this was taken somewhere west of Campbell Town on Macquarie Road in central Tasmania. From the approach, the tree appeared very wide, almost 'hand' like. I could only get this side-on angle as there weren't many safe places to pull over.
I'm really missing the hills and mountains, especially in their winter coat. I was lucky last year with trips to the Dolomites and Snowdonia, and before that Skye and Torridon. This is much closer to home, the Brecon Beacons, a pre sunrise glow from Pen Y fan. Always worth the effort, hopefully we'll be allowed to travel a little shortly. when Doves Cry is by the Be Good Tanyas.
With the sky reflecting on the pond water surface, the floating stems of some kind of grass produce an almost abstract pattern (Lofoten, Norway)

I have found art as means to express where words fail and fall on deaf ears.... for ones with sight and vision they can feel the power behind the image...

When you can light your water on fire due to methane contamination in your ground water, what else can you do but laugh?

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone to long
Anytime she goes away
I wonder, this time where she's gone
Wonder, how long she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away.
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know when she's gone
always gone too long
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes

When we were up at the observatory ctr, it started snowing a bit, so, the Matterhorn was all covered by the clouds. Only when we descended, this was what was seen from the distance. We were told that it'd take at least 2 hrs. to get a clear view of it afterwards. So this was as good as it got for us. :-(

Nothing was wrong with my teeth earlier. They were not protruding through my face. I had on some lip-gloss, that was very-very shiny. I was seeing the ultra-highlights, hahaha...
