West Mitten Butte stands opposite East Mitten, its broad cap and sheer faces carved into bold, vertical planes. Together the Mittens tell the visual story of Monument Valley, a set of landmarks tied closely to Navajo cultural and landscape identity.
A random shot from our trip West to Cornwall, We had an amazing assortment of weather, from the good the bad and the downright ugly.

West Block glows in the evening light as tourists stroll around Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. This building is the interim location of Canada's Parliament as the House of Commons undergoes a ten-year renovation project. The dome of the temporary House of Commons pops up above the roof of the West Block.
Yet another photo from me of West Burton Falls in the Yorkshire Dales. I can't resist this place, it has so many qualities, from raw power of the water to the beauty of its setting amidst autumnal colour.

On a gorgeous April evening, my drone was perched high above Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho as a BNSF oil train cruises westbound in the beautiful light. The hilarity of going all the way to Idaho and getting an NS unit on a train wasn't lost on me, but at least it was an EMD so all was forgiven. This bridge is one of the last pinch-points on the northern trans-con, and work was just beginning on the pilings for the second track through here, which will negate the need for the dispatcher to coordinate meets. While we had a whole trip in front of us, I could've easily sat here and watched trains for another few days. Spectacular country.
The highlight of the day this past Sunday was seeing the Eagles in West Virginia. We saw a total of four, two mature and two juveniles. This of course would be a juvenile. I was wishing I had left my Tamron 18-400 on the camera!
I’ve been to the poppies at West Pentire for several years now and was thinking I might give them a miss this year, but couldn’t resist in the end! Last Tuesday I left home in beautiful conditions but as we approached Newquay there was sea fog surrounding the coast… at first I was disappointed but I actually like how some of the images turned out, and had a nice chat to the Penwith Camera Club.
A very distant landscape of the scene from West Shore Beach in Napier. A sunny but hazy day making the bluffs very indistinct, and I thought I would try a little LE work to smooth things out....
