The School of Human Environmental Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky held a Welcome Back Picnic on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 to help inform students of the many student organizations available for them to be involved with according to their interests and career goals.

Lady here was a tough nut to crack - no smile - except a very very shy one. Her Bro though was flashing his teeth. They made quite a pair!

Thud! The sound a F100 + MB-15 + Nikkor 28-85mm AF-s makes when it hits the sandy and rocky beach.
Well this is not what I expected when I returned to the night shooting scene. My F100 was not as secure as I thought on the Manfrotto 488RC0 in vertical mode. Had I not wrapped the 10 pin DIN cable release around the tripod knob... all would have been good... but unfortunately I did and the weight of my rig was too much for the DIN connector. Good reason to carry two camera bodies on a shoot.
At least I got a bunch of good frames from tonight... I'll post them when I get some rest. Have a happy moon lit evening.

Update 3 Picked up the rig, it was $172 but she's working like new again woo hoo!

Update 2 Called the camera repair today, they have my camera - parts and labor = $165. That is tolerable, but should this happen again - I'll will jump into the ocean.

Update I repieced the $70 cable release back together in hopes that it would work. I plugged it into my other F100 and it is functional... Nikon components are resilient!
On 31 January 2018, PAS Pretoria in collaboration with University of Pretoria, hosted an event to welcome back new and existing students to Mae Jemison Science Corner after a long school holiday break. Regional Public Engagement Specialist Bill Middleton and the University of Pretoria Campus Director Edwin Smith delivered welcoming remarks to encourage the students to study hard and to take advantage of the opportunities given to them so that they can become better people in future. Other presenters included three Mae Jemison alumni’s who shared their experiences using Mae J, and also provided students with practical tools they can implement in their daily lives to live a life that matters and a life of success.
The strong turnout of 125 students indicate that Mae Jemison Science Corner continue to reach out to high school students living in Mamelodi. The partnership between U.S. Embassy and the University of Pretoria is designed to encourage the study of the sciences and to assist local students in their quest for knowledge in STEM education.
