I was finally able to take the plunge underwater thanks to my new gear (Equinox, for those asking!). It is amazing how a better camera and underwater system can drastically effect the clarity of the image...okay, okay, I know that is nothing new but I can still marvel over the fact that I got something in focus ;-) Here's a pic of me shooting in the water yesterday: twitpic.com/53ved8
I created this in preparation for my underwater workshop next weekend. I love underwater photography. There is something so carefree about it, yet at the same time suffocating. There are such wild juxtapositions in it: grace vs. struggle, weightlessness vs. drowning.

--- English translation with the help of deepl.com ---
The tide is high, the sun is on the decline. The ships, one after the other, return to the harbor. The ritual seems immutable. Coming from the north, they barely wrap themselves around the lighthouse and let themselves be carried to the opposite dike. Lower the throttle at the entrance to the harbor. Carried away by its momentum, the boat's nose gently sinks into the water. Raised by this wave, it suddenly seems like weightlessness. Forget the weight of the ship, the machines. Can it be that she finally transforms herself into an albatross? Far too quickly, the captain brings us back to reason. The boat resumed its rhythm and slowly sinks into the depths of the port of Fécamp.
On board, the men are eager to return. It's been a cold day. From this pressing cold that creeps in under the oilskins. This cold weather that does not allow the slightest comfort, that does not let you go once it has taken you, that, despite all the efforts, does not leave you in any doubt. It will always win.
Today, the sea was calm.
Take me to your fantasy
Ravish me in your dreams
Across the universe we touch
Fueling stars, weightlessly floating in eternity...

“The night beyond the window was still, mordant white snow, punctuated only by the eerie dark of the trees, gumshoeing their way along the edge of the path outside. Their skeletal fingers clawed up at the stars, held down by an insidious, weightless lacing of snowflakes. I gazed idly at the moon and wondered if it truly had the power to sway the will of men.” ― Hazel Butler:

|| T h e m e : O u t d o o r ||
Pooh Bear was one of me and my son's favourite books and videos to enjoy while he was growing up...I just love Pooh Bear's never-ending need for honey, Tigger's bouncy bouncy tail, Eeyore's negativity, Piglet's weightless flights, Kanga's motherly ways, Roo's enthusiasm, Rabbit's over productiveness, Owl's wisdom (of course) and last but not least Christopher Robin's imagination....Josh's favourite was Tigger, he had a little Tigger about the size of a palm and he would put himself to sleep most nights while running the tag between two of his fingers until he fell asleep.
PS Josh is now 15...thinking about Pooh and friends even now still makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Easy to Assemble // John Marriott // 2005 Installed 2006 Painted Metal and Wood Cambridge Sculpture Garden
This sculpture presents the familiar structure of a garden shed in a context that is innovative and unexpected. Engineered for stability, the work is seemingly precarious and weightless, reminding us that things are not always as they seem. Originally commissioned by the Toronto Sculpture Garden, this piece was donated by the Toronto-based artist.
Inside looking out ..
l look deep with wonder through my window, content in my presence of being in the peace and solitude of home. My vulnerability innocence is my power as my inner soul is awakening through my flesh, my nakedness. l am softer with you weightless tender delicate in my fragility. My strength a tenderness as l light a single match in its smallest light. My veils lift you are my grace and harmony of my inner music l am your dancing shadow in your moon light shimmering through the trees my star that shines brightly forever in my constellation..

Yes, this is really the aircraft in which Cosmonaut-Number-One flew. Juri Gagarin was not only the first cosmonaut but also an outstanding pilot holding the steering wheels of a lot of different aircrafts during his lifetime. Although in this special aircraft he was not a chief pilot but a passenger. However there is no any shame to be a passenger of this jet. Because aboard of this machine a man felt the weightlessness first time in the world. Before Gagarin's Space start nobody knew how human's organizm survives a weightlessness. But it was necessary to train first astronauts to work in weightless state. Thus the one of passenger Tupolev's jets has been converted into flying laboratory. All passenger equipment has been removed from the hull. And the hollow space of it was lined by soft material to avoid occasional traumas. This Tu-104 'Red 47' was transfered to the Cosmonaut Corps of the USSR. And First Six cosmonauts, i.e. Juri Gagarin, German Titov, Andrian Nikolayev, Pavel Popovich, Grigorij Neliubov, Valerij Bykovskij trained the weightlessness on the deck of it. Excellent accelerating abilities of 'Tu' were used during this training. Tu-104 accelerated into stratosphere, keeping special 'ballistic' (parabola) trajectory calculated in such way, that it was real weightlessness during several minutes on the top part of it. Thanks to it the valuable experience has been gained allowing safe starts into the Universe. 'Red 47' served in Cosmonauts Corps until the full deterioration. After that it has been returned to it's Alma Mater - the Kharkov Aviation Plant where it was manufactured in 1950's. Now 'Red 47' is the most valuable showpiece of Plant's museum. Unfortunately aviation plant is considered as 'secret' even today. So this unique aircraft is virtually unreachable for non-employee of this plant. It may be added that even 'common' passenger Tu-104's are unique being the first Soviet jet airliner (and the second one in the world yielding the primacy only to British De-Havilland Comet), At Soviet time Tu-104 was the matter of legitimate pride being the real pasteboard of Communism and a real Soviet icon in fact.
Naturally it had a set of shortcomings which led to several air disasters - the natural consequence of design novelty. But this shortcomings were overcome during it's service
Unfortunately only couple of this machines survived in museums. But even now it is considered as one of most beautiful aircraft in the world

The second entry for my 52 weeks project. After all the weight we put on during the past holidays, I think it's time to diet! ^^
Did I ever mention that I hate to align the lighting of different objects when it comes to composing? That's the reason why I try to photograph the objects in the exact same lighting conditions. And that's the reason why the plate was fixed to a tripod and the apple was hung up on a cord from the ceiling. You now may officially call me crazy. Or editing-lazy that is *g* I'm starting to get comfortable with my brand new Wacom tablet though...

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an Angel fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees
In the arms of an Angel far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

(Karen Blixen)
"The main feature of the landscape and your life on it, was the air .... It was customary that the sky had a pale blue or violet, with a profusion of powerful clouds, weightless, ever changing and floating lofty, but also force had a blue, short and intense blue colored with cool chains of hills and forests. At noon the air was alive on earth, like a flame, glittered, and shone rippled like water flowing ... comfortable up there and absorbed breathed life safety and lightness of heart. In the highlands you woke up in the morning and thought: "I am where I belong." (Karen Blixen)

Manage me, I'm a mess
Turn a page, I'm a book half unread
I wanna be laughed at, laughed with, just because
I wanna feel weightless and that should be enough
But I'm stuck in this fucking rut
Waiting on a second-hand pick-me-up
And I'm over getting older
If I could just find the time
Then I would never let another day go by
I'm over getting old
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction to everything I fear
'Cause I've been going crazy, I don't wanna waste another minute here
Make believe that I impress
That every word, by design, turns a head
I wanna feel reckless, wanna live it up just because
I wanna feel weightless 'cause that would be enough
If I could just find the time
Then I would never let another day go by
I'm over getting old
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction to everything I fear
'Cause I've been going crazy, I don't wanna waste another minute here
This could be all I've waited for
(I've waited, I've waited for)
And this could be everything I don't wanna dream anymore
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year
And I've been going crazy, I'm stuck in here
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year
(It's gonna be my year)
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
(Go nowhere)
And this is my reaction to everything I fear
(Everything I fear)
'Cause I've been going crazy, I don't wanna waste another minute here

Surrounded by these magical creatures, my body became weightless as they flutter around me leaving me in awe of their beauty.
It's been a long time since I've don a levitation shot and I forgot how hard and tiring it was to do. I've had this idea to use paper cranes and make them fly around me while I float in mid air.

Фонтан сияющий клубится;
...........................................................................................................................Look like a living cloud
The fountain is shining and swirling;
How it flames, how it splits
Its wet smoke in the sun.
Having risen to the sky like a ray, he
Touched the height of the cherished —
And again with fire - colored dust
To fall to the earth is condemned.
About the mortal thought of a water cannon,
About an inexhaustible water cannon!
