The Whitby Goth Weekend began in 1994, Over 8,000 visitors descend on the small North Yorkshire fishing town each year for this bi-annual event which takes place in April and at Halloween for a weekend of shopping drinking and dancing.
We had a great day out in Whitby on Saturday at their Goth Weekend. More photos are on my website :- www.dinosphotography.co.uk
Three words : Meditation. Peace. Quiet. on this Sunday and all members of my body were overjoyed. Giddy, really.
This week went by in a blur filled with mix emotions. Therefore, there is nothing better than a long morning spent meditating. Meditation helps me to see things with my heart rather than seeing things from my head. It helps me to clear my head and sort out my emotions. It allows me to retreat to a space where i can find happiness, peace and kindness so that i can become emotionally attune to what's going on inside my feelings, my peace and my stillness. It reminds me to feel rather than think, to know rather than believe, and to feel peace, respect and be truthful to what's happening around me.
Little Grace and Miss Sofia decided to join me and try to meditate but Sofia gave up after 5 mins. (silly little bear)
I'm so looking forward to a relaxing Chinese New Year holidays. The idea of knitting while snuggled up under a quilt with my mister sounds pretty nice. Also feeling like doing some baking. Maybe something simple like biscuits or a little more involved like those butter cakes.
Hope you have yourself a lovely Sunday.
More soon.
Love to you and yours.
A regular sight on the Thirlmere loop line, preserved steam locomotive 3001 stomps up the grade from Picton to Thirlmere with a train full of enthusiastic passengers.
Weekend train rides on the loop line from Thirlmere are a weekly occurance year round, although they typically run between Thirlmere and Buxton (the second station south of Thirlmere). During March 2024, this section of the line was closed for a major rebuild to ensure it's longevity, so the train rides for museum visitors instead went towards Picton (junction with the main Melbourne to Sydney line).

Just chillin.
On our last weekend in the country some friends came to hang out with us. I just happened to have the 70-300 mm on the camera and grabbed a bunch of portraits.
A pair of F40PHs (#168 & #127) wait out the weekend in McHenry.. McHenry is at the end of a branch off the Union Pacific (ex-CNW) Harvard Subdivision. This branch at one time went all the way from Crystal Lake to Williams Bay. It was cut back in phases, first to Lake Geneva, then to Richmond, and finally to McHenry (although UP still serves one freight customer north of McHenry at Ringwood).
Metra trains operate only in weekday rush hours and on a limited schedule. It's not possible to ride a round trip from Chicago unless one is willing to get up very early in the morning.
One can, however, ride the parallel Prairie Trail between Crystal Lake and Genoa City as I did and get static shots as I did. The trail is built on the old CNW right of way.

NJ Transit GP40PH-2 4145 was tied down in Suffern awaiting the weekend's end before heading back into service in 1994.
Rebuilt by M-K from CSXT GP40 6607, the 4147 now works for MARC as a backup motor in the DMV area.
Teddy was rescued from the shelter 11 years ago this weekend. Not realizing it was all part of his quiet, sweet and polite nature, we thought he seemed lonely and sometimes melancholy. We interpreted that to mean that he might have been missing a buddy, and we spent some time in search of the perfect companion for him—one with a gentle and equally sweet personality. On a visit to the same shelter a year to the day when we first met Teddy, we found little 7 week-old Ollie. All along, I had hoped to bring home an older female cat, but as some of you may have heard before, a wink from the kitten that looked so much like a mountain lion in miniature won me over at first sight. Long story short, it seems that Teddy may have been perfectly content as a ‘single kitty’...lol...but it’s often clear that he loves his pesky buddy just the same...
This is a shot of the boys on ‘their’ bed this morning...haha, yes, it’s very ‘girly’...but it does match their pink noses...lol ;-)
They’ve been hanging out together a lot lately, just like they used to when they were both new around here. It never fails to make me smile...
