Here is the South Bank on a Friday evening. The street performers come (this week it was a fire show, which I had to give a miss), the art installations are put up, and everyone gathers for a party. One weekend, an enormous patch of fake grass was placed where the torches are, complete with a throne (also made of grass). It probably sounds a lot sillier here than it actually is. At the bottom left corner is the red fire truck selling really good (Yoshi) hotdogs; a Wagyu (or maybe it was Angus?) beef burger stand lies directly opposite. Even further on are my favourite Burritos, where the queue snakes on for hours. Sometimes, the breeze from the Thames sends a huge waft of different smells — the food, the smoke, the alcohol, the excitement (because real excitement can be smelt) — and you know for sure the weekend is here.
Why should a weekend be a thing, and not a feeling?

On a weekend day at Stanford University, as the adult visitors stroll the campus, younger visitors see the campus as a giant playground.
Burlington, Vermont: Spent the long weekend with family and friends in Vermont. The weather was beautiful and Ms. M enjoyed spending time at the playground.

we rented a villa that has its own pool.
sophia's bestfriend marla and family were the first to occupy the villa two days before we arrived. they were about to check out when we got there but these two needed to swim first for a good ten minutes or else ... :D
