Week 47/52
Happy Thanksgiving !!
I've wanted to take a photo like this all week, and I'm glad i got guts enough to do it because generally I'm terrified of taking photos in the open!
I can't believe I only have 5 weeks left.
Week 9 – Shadows
This week was a fairly quick and easy photo to create. I had an idea of what I wanted; so as usual, I made my poor, long-suffering husband endure severe hardship by languishing outside in the rain. Actually, the one time I wanted rain, it wasn't raining for once, so I made him hose down the patio to make it look like it had been.
I set the camera up on a tripod, turning all the settings to manual (including focus) so that the exposure would be the same for each of the pictures. I focussed on his shoes and took a few pictures, making sure he created a decent shadow on the wet patio.
I then took a spare pair of shoes out to him, and held on to his trainers while he took them off and changed into the others to make sure the original shoes didn't move. Of course we had to do the laces up again too, which is not as easy when they are just sitting on the ground. I took a few further photos with just the shoes standing on the patio.
In the RAW conversion in Photoshop, synchronised the two images so that any editing would remains the same.
Using the picture with David as the Background, I added the one with just the shoes as a layer above. Even though I had kept the camera in one place on a tripod for the two shots, they were still ever so slightly out, so I used Auto Align Layers to get them spot on.
Adding a Layer Mask to the photo with just the shoes, I used the Brush Tool to remove the foreground, revealing the shadow on the ground in front.
Using Curves and the Dodge and Burn Brushes, I created a stronger contrast for the shadow.
In the Nik Colour Efex Pro I adjusted the Tonal Contrasts and added a slight vignette to the whole image. Isolating the shoes with a Quick Mask, I used the Details Extractor to make them more punchy, then selected inverse and lowered the saturation for the patio to make the shoes stand out even more.
19 weeks and just starting to show
I've been feeling like bubbles in my belly for a few weeks but felt the first actual, feel it on the outside movement, this week.

There will be a time when my little girl will care about her hair, there will be a time when my little girl will care about her body in a photo, there will be a time when a photo like this will not be able to be created. I cherish this time.
My daughter (Mattie-Moo) and I planned to collaborate, but first the dog ate the dried flowers we were going to use earlier in the week. Then today she decided she needed to catch-up on sleep more than take pictures with me. So, this is all I came up with.
I travel from point A to B...piggyback. This week (4/17) the Shuttle Discovery, after many years in service, 39 missions and 365 days in space, made its last flight to become part of the Smithsonian's permanent collection. I covered the event, and got this great capture of the Discovery atop its 747 carrier as it was about to land.
It was hard to pick a favorite shot of the fly by for the challenge this week.

This week's photo is so late :(
I wiped Lin's faceup when I was giving Knox her bath, I was waiting until she had a new faceup to take the photo, but I've been too busy to do it.
I also haven't had time to work on Nattie's wig... why, why can't there be 6 more hours in every day?...
Week #17 Openings - A great hiding spot. I don't think anything has been living in this tree, but it looks like it could make a great nest or hiding spot.
I hope that you enjoy it ;)
Week 22 - Stranger
This week's theme is stranger and there are strangers all around me, everywhere I go. Here's one doing his thing behind a bar. I find that environment and uniform helps tell the story of a stranger whom you know nothing about.
