Looking for a place that usually puts people in a good 'mood', I went to the Texas Tech Horticultural Gardens. Unfortunately it's October so many of the flowers weren't blooming. I ended up liking this picture of some Feather Reed Grass, and I experimented with lens flare in Photoshop to make it a little more exciting.
Week 34 – Child
I knew exactly what I wanted for this week's challenge and it involved buying cake! I chose the most picturesque cupcake I could find and added some Smarties for extra effect.

Our first real snowfall was yesterday and we had a two hour early release from school. Then today we had a two hour delay which caused my math test to be postponed to next week! Good stuff.
I really can't recall anything that happened this week other than the first snow fall.
Oh, and this shoot was really awkward to shoot considering that there were a bunch of townhouses right in front of me and everyone was looking out their windows. After thirty minutes, my hands were frozen, I ran home, changed to sweats, and slept bundled up in my blanket. :)

June 30th thru July 6th was Navy Week in the City of Boston. It also just happens to be the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812.
Naval ships and Tall Ships from many countries came to Boston to celebrate it. The highlight of the week was the annual USS Constitution turn-around in Boston Harbor as it was escorted this year by the United States Coast Guard Eagle Tall Ship and there were some fly-overs by the US Navy Blue Angels.
Also there are a few fireworks video clips that were done down at Red Rock Park on Lynn Shore Drive in the City of Lynn

Somehow I wound up missing two weeks in a row. One week, i actually had two shots to choose from and wound up stalling and by the time it was sunday we had a big dog show and I wound up forgetting. whoops! Then the following week, I had a long difficult week at work, did take a picture on sunday but was too exhausted to post, and it was really nothing special. So, my apologies. We're back this week with another action shot. Wasn't the picture I planned to submit, and it's cut off. But I like it. In fact I didn't even edit it :)
And in other news, Rudy completed his Junior Grand Champion of Ukraine title last week. I'm proud of this crazy dude!

My week 37 page based on my original game board project. I altered some aspects, covering the entire background with dictionary paper and edged the page with adhesive fabric tape. I used neocolors as a base and acrylic paints to create the ink blot butterfly. I then stamped and added texture paste before adding short positive quotes and the same butterflies as I'd used on my original piece. It was a fast and easy class which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I was trying to get a nice photo of my new raccoon hat that I got yesterday on sale because Filene's Basement is going out of business. I've wanted a raccoon hat for literally like two years but then animal hats became popular recently so I almost didn't want one, just because it seems like everybody else has one now. But I loved it so much that I had to get it anyway.
I also got lion gloves, which are epic, but then got back to my room and realized they forgot to take the security tags off of them. :/ So then I was kinda mad that I had to go back but they were really nice about it so it was all good.
I can't decide if this should be my week 48 or the one above.
Storytelling: Geometric Shapes
Triangles, squares, and circles. They are all very strong compositional elements in an image. Find a way to use geometric shapes in your storytelling.
Story Telling: Good photographers can take beautiful images of something. Great photographers can take an image that tells its story. This category makes use of compositional rules and directed prompts to push you towards not just looking at the beauty of something, but to find a way to tell that something’s story.
Bryce, "The Girly Girl". You can always catch this girl at the mall with a few friends getting her nails done, but you will never see her on the soccer field. Her family is very rich.
34 weeks 5 days. getting thrashed by baby kung fu every night. other than sleeplessness, feeling pretty good, with occasional bouts of upset that i can't fit any of my shoes or boots (or anything else).

Paper was proving to be a real challenge. I stumbled across a bag of 83 paper cranes and I decided to use them.
