A wee tiny crab captured early on a dark morning in La Jolla California back in June, 2010 with a Panasonic DMC-G1.
The morning was dark and foggy. We went out out in search of seals and morning light on the coast before the crowds arrived.
We went out as far as we could on the rocks looking for good views of their famous seals.
At first it was hard to notice these little guys on the grayish wet rocks. Once we figured out they were there, we could see the place was just crawling with them. I think it is a Striped Shore Crab.
Edited on the iPad. First with some general image adjustments and square crop in Snapseed, then taken into Hipstamatic's Oggl app.
Experimented with lots of combinations. Settled on this on using the Lowy Lens and Blanko Film.
Also have a black and white version that I might post in the future.

Wee Peter (also known as Kerrs Folly).
Wee Peter stands on a stone pedestal in a cove at Aldochlay, legend evolved that it is a memorial to a child drowned in the loch, but it was in fact erected in 1890 by a local stonemason called William Kerr.
William, his brother and sister had been orphaned and had been brought up by a family in the Luss area. At an early age William left Luss for London and became a successful builder, the statue now known as Wee Peter was designed to be incorporated in a new house he was building.
However the client the house was being built for did not like the statue, and it was taken back to the builders yard where it had been left lying in a corner for many years.
William decided to return to the lochside where he had spent a happy childhood, bringing with him the statue which he then erected in the loch perhaps to remind him of the happy days he had spent there as a child.
How it came to be called Wee Peter is unknown.
All my days I believed the story of the grieving father erecting the memerorial to the loss of his son. I prefer the legend.

Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis (born April 21, 1941) is an American saxophonist, composer and arranger. He was an important member of James Brown's band in the 1960s, appearing on many of Brown's most notable recordings and co-writing hits like "Cold Sweat" and "Say It Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud". He also worked closely with Van Morrison.
In later years, he became a resident of England, living in the town of Frome in the county of Somerset.

And this 'Wee Heavy' was the 1010 King's X to Edinburgh which always loaded to 13 coaches and sometimes to 15. It certainly stretched its rostered Deltic over the warm-up incline to Potters Bar, but then it got going. Here at Stevenage old station (which closed 23 July 1973) it's cruising around 85-90 mph and just touching the down grade to Three Counties.
The Deltic on this occasion, 24 June 1967, was D9001 (55001) St Paddy; this along with 55020 Nimbus the first to the scrap heap, alas. The week of this picture, St Paddy reached its million miles travel signpost!
