Dirk Dzimirsky is a German artist best known for his hyper realistic drawings depicting human beings in a dark mood, thus revealing the vulnerability and tragedy present in their condition. He utilizes the interplay of light and shadow combined with extreme detail to create a melancholy mood in his images. In translating photographs into drawings, he wishes to go beyond merely recreating a single instant in time and instead create a photographic snapshot representing the culmination of his life experiences with others, succinctly encapsulated in the subject’s gaze (comment from Pixelelco - reddit webpage)
Kotor bay at night from above, I had uploaded a blue hour panoramic before, this is taken later, single frame. The moon was almost full and lit up some of the scene after rising.
Montenegro, at the moment is the first country in Europe without any active Wuhan Virus cases at the moment (Faroe islands have been for a while) only about 10000 tests there though.., according to that addictive webpage that we probably all click on a regular basis.

Easter Island, Isla de Pascua, Rapa Nui (all meaning the same thing) will certainly go down as one of the more fascinating locations I will ever visit.
We were of course looking forward to the Moai statues, and they did not disappoint. This LE shot is from the partially buried Moai in and around the quarry site at Rano Raraku.
I will have more to share and say about the island, and the diversity of picture opportunities which was a welcome surprise.

I can only go but so many images before I have to get back to posting my favorite subject, waterfalls. This is the beautiful Fairy Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. It's a bit of a workout up to this spot, but that's certainly my kind of workout. This was the first waterfall of the trip, and a good harbinger of things to come.

The Follow the Flag organization annually hangs one of the largest United States of America Star & Stripes in a 600 foot canyon in Snow Canyon State Park in St George Utah every November in honor of Veteran’s Day. My damsel and I while in Snow Canyon we able to view the immense American flag that spans a quarter of an acre. The founders of the organizations premise is very basic, from their webpage “the spirit of the American flag has a way of making us all feel connected.” The mission statement of the organization, “Honor Heal, Inspire”. One of the things Tim and I assumed we'd shoot plenty of on this trip was lush creek scenes. While we spent plenty of time on the creeks, we came across very few that were ideal. This may have been my best creek shot of the week, and it was on the very first evening. It certainly gave me a better appreciation for those truly exceptional creek scenes, and the fact that their locations are well guarded secrets. I got wet shooting this scene, and that set the tone for me pretty much being wet the entire trip.

last week, we had a super-low tide coinciding with sunset, so it seemed like the perfect time to head to the sand. the skies were underwhelming, but i stuck around long enough to witness the santa monica pier putting on a show. thankfully, the two guys in the foreground stood still just long enough for me to capture them as well.
This week in 1968, Apollo 8 lifted off from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The primary mission objectives included a coordinated performance of the crew, the command and service module and the support facilities. The mission also demonstrated trans-lunar injection -- a propulsive maneuver used to set a spacecraft on a trajectory that will cause it to arrive at the Moon. All primary mission objectives were met and detailed test objectives were achieved. The crew escaped Earth’s gravity, traveled to the lunar vicinity, and orbited the Moon before returning to Earth on Dec. 27. Apollo 8 was the first crewed flight of the Saturn V vehicle and the first crewed lunar orbit mission. Now through December 2022, NASA will mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Program that landed a dozen astronauts on the Moon between July 1969 and December 1972, and the first U.S. crewed mission -- Apollo 8 -- that circumnavigated the Moon in December 1968. The NASA History Program is responsible for generating, disseminating, and preserving NASA’s remarkable history and providing a comprehensive understanding of the institutional, cultural, social, political, economic, technological and scientific aspects of NASA’s activities in aeronautics and space. Our latest trip to New York City and Manhattan lead us to Chelsea. One of the fascinating finds there was the IAC Building. IAC or InterActive Corp is an American media conglomerate with over 60 brands.
The building is a uniquely shaped design by architect Frank Gehry based on a concrete superstructure with tilted supporting columns and an exterior made out of more than 1400 glass panels most of which are unique in their shape and degree of twist. It’s the first Frank Gehry design constructed entirely of glass and the building is the first Gehry designed office building in New York City. It was built between June 2004 (groundbreaking) and March 2007 (construction completed).
What I loved most were the reflections of the sky on the glass panels ... and of course I was lucky to get such a wonderful sky that day.

Branching off of the main Des Plaines River Trail, there are smaller trails that lead back towards the west bank of the Des Plaines river. A fine place to walk when you need a bit of solitude.
