Mainly, spiders construct webs to trap potential victims, for food and predation. I suppose that spider's webs are like the worldwide web.

Lots of webs in the garden at the moment, but precious few spiders. They're probably all behind me...

A crafty spider utilizes the skeleton of the leaves as the structure for weaving it's web.

The shapes created in this web were amazing. This view from the side show how 3 dimensional the structure is.

Frosty spiders web on the railings by the wier at Etherow Country park, a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure what the spiders thought of Jack Frost's enhancements to their webs!
