This Snowy Egret was seen at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlfie Reserve ! Onwards and upwards ! Looks like it's wearing a jet pack
When we do photography in the real world we look for interesting light and shadows. That is what separates a good picture from good snap.
In SL we make the lights. I've learnt ove the years that for images that you really wnat to do, sometime sthere are compromises.
But I still love creating, it's the compromises that are just something o overcome, that in truth the viewer may not even notice. Just you, you are own judgy eye.

Have a safe and delightful day dear Flickr friends !!!!
it was a big spring tide yesterday, so the honeycomb worm colonies were well exposed. Even though I was heading for reflections I couldn't resist taking one or two of these amazing biological reefs. We get low is by The Dead 60s
Humans, animals, the spiders that made these amazing webs. We 're all connected. Worth remembering sometimes. Have a great week ahead folks x
I went along the river Adur on Monday evening to a spot I have been to some time back, when the sun goes down here at the same time as the tide is high at this spot you can look up this part of the river and get a reflection for quite a distance as the sun goes down in the far North West, did I get lucky ? I sure did .
It rained when I was on my way and I thought here we go it will be a dud but, the cloud was moving the rain stopped and the light got better all the time .
I got my reflection shots in the river as the cloud moved away together with some other images .
This image was a surprise as I started my walk back to the car and is one of my favorite images of the evening, a totally unexpected image which caught my eye.
The layers got me with the Cow Parsley right in front of me then the light in those trees then the late evening sky , two bracketed images one standard foreground and one three stops under exposed for the sky then blended together, no filters .
I did take another image cropped into the trees for another time .
I`ll go back again in a few weeks when the sun sets a little more to the North and you will get some light down the right side of the river .

One morning I found a cluster of mushrooms that had grown together. In studying this image I was reminded of how important it is for each of us to know that even though we are separate individuals, we have a responsibility to each other and our planet to make choices that support the growth of each individual while protecting a planet that is full of such natural beauty.
And I know you're out there in the shadows... series
You held it like a mirror, showing me the life I chose... series
___________
Dear fellow traveler under the moon
I saw you standing in the shadows and your eyes were blue
You put your hand out, opened the door
You said, "Come with me, boy, I want to show you something more"
You spoke my language and touched my limbs
It wasn't difficult to pull me from myself again
And in our travels, we found our roads
You held it like a mirror, showing me the life I chose
And now we turn to my beautiful city
Black skies changed into blue
And my love is so wise and so pretty
But tonight I still dream of you
Dear fellow traveler under the moon
I think I'm growing weary and I'm hoping you'll come soon
And if I see you in clean new clothes
I hope you hold the mirror up to show me what I chose
And I returned to my beautiful city
Black skies change into blue
And though my love is so wise and so pretty
Some nights I'll still dream of you
And I'll return to my beautiful city
Black skies change into blue
And though my love is so wise and so pretty
Some nights I'll still dream of you, you
And I know you're out there in the shadows
I know you're out there in the shadows
I know you're out there in the shadows

“Lest we forget” – three very simple, yet also very powerful words. First used in an 1897 poem written by Rudyard Kipling called “Recessional”, to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, they caution us to be careful not to forget.
As we take a moment this Armistice Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our peace, prosperity and stability, and those who fight today to protect us still, let us also hope that conflicts around the world will come to a swift conclusion, not least of all in Ukraine and in Gaza.
Armistice Day or Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. It falls on the 11th of November every year. Remembrance Day is marked at eleven o’clock (the time that the armistice was declared) with a minute’s silence to honour the fallen. Following a tradition inaugurated by King George V in 1919, the day is also marked by war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries.
Here we see one of the highlights of Waimea Canyon, the rather cinematic looking Waipoo Falls.
Kauaʻi is quite diverse for its dimunitive size. This 24 mile long island manages to squeeze in both the wettest spot on earth (Mount Waiʻaleʻale) and one of the world's most impressive and scenic canyons in Waimea Canyon. Waimea stretches for 11 miles (16 km) and is up to 3,000 feet (900 m) deep. Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific it was formed by the strong errossion of the Waimea River arising from the extreme rainfall on the island's central peak, Mount Waiʻaleʻale. Another major factor in its formation was also born from a catastrophic collapse of the ancient volcano that created Kauaʻi. What a fascinating place!
Image Notes: two exposures used for this image, one 30 second exposure for the foreground/waterfall and a shorter exposure for sky. Not long after we viewed this scene, the clouds quickly filled the canyon. Sadly we didn't manage to make it to the top for the ultra-long view before it filled in, but still felt fortunate to get the long looks we did!

As we were taking off from Martin State Airport, we had a nice view of Wilson Point there that sticks out towards the Chesapeake Bay. I marked on the photo where my Dad's house is located. Also marked some other features in the photo like downtown Baltimore, etc.
Just about all the homes there on the end of Wilson Point ended up with water in them when Hurricane Isabel came up the East Coast. You can see how easily that thin peninsula does not provide a lot of protection from water being blown in from across the large bay.

We visited Gettysburg, and expected to feel reverence for the trails and tribulations that happened there. It did not disappoint. What I did not expect was to find such beautiful terrain. The landscape there was gorgeous. I suppose it makes good sense, militaristically speaking. This is at the edge of a big hill, with rock outcroppings and lots of places to fortify using nature.
This is the statue to Gouverneur K. Warren on Little Round Top at Gettysburg National Military Park. I wanted to get an image that made it look like we was looking at something, so I plugged the sun into the scene right where he was looking. Ok, maybe he would not look right at the sun, but at least it gives his gaze a home. Excuse, me, I am going out to stare at the sun too.

We are the Champions 🎶 by Queen.. one of the greatest bands ever. I saw them in person on Long Island NY and wow.. I still vividly remember Freddie running back and forth across the stage. What a great performer!! Back to the pic - The background is the cover from one of their vinyl records. The Freddie Mercury figure is doing the victory pose. ;-) HSoS! :-)

They are some photographic short stories, collected walking on the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...
I used a photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension: in fact, most of the photos are confused-blurry-blurred-imprecise-indecisive ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encompasses with a single word this photographic genre is "blur", these photos were made in the shooting phase, deliberately lengthening the exposure, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production phase.
