I saw the strangest cloud formation on the way back to my house this afternoon. Taken at sunset from Highway 89A. Note how the cloud undulations follow the rock formations almost exactly.

Earlier, in the dark, I was photographing the stars at this spot. I could hear the waves and see faint outlines of the rocks. I remained on the higher ground for safety as I knew the tide was coming in and I really couldn't see beyond my headlamp. I had not had a chance to scout this location before. As it got lighter, the water started to reflect the colors. I switched lenses and moved in closer. What a wonderful start to the dayI For earlier picture at this same spot, see: www.flickr.com/photos/mkirschbaum/8226483780/in/photostream
kinetic paper installation
CITROËN celebrates the 5th anniversary of its DS-Models, and in the same time marks the 136th birthday of its founder Andre Citroën while presenting its newest C4 Cactus model, below “The Paper Wave” the longest Kinetic Lights installation ever.
A 65m long array of Kinetic Lights hovered above the car-runway while cars creating ripples were passing underneath. The installation looks like a delicate wave and is made of thin paper sheets that change colors. The installation is simple and pure, in the same time it is unique in its dimension and layer-like structure.
Waves crashing on the shore near the Grand Marais Recreation Park. Lake Superior was restless, though the weather was fine here.
On the harbour wall at Broadstairs.
For a July day, it felt much more autumnal with the strong wind causing waves such as this to crash over, evidently bringing a lot of seaweed too.

Any guesses for what this is? The bottom left corner probably gives it away. :)
Chicagoans will recognize this as the facade of the Aqua building. This award winning building was designed by Jeanne Gang, and it was (still is?) "the largest project ever awarded to an American firm headed by a woman" (Wikipedia).
I had been wanting to photograph Aqua for quite some time now. The balconies extend in an irregular, undulating manner, mimicking the topographical quality of flowing water. After all, the Chicago river and Lake Michigan are a stone's throw away. I remember reading somewhere that no two floors have the exact same balconies, just as no two waves are alike. Fortunately, this means that no two photographs will be exactly alike either. Stay tuned for a couple more photographs showing my take on this building.
