On Sunday I took the Torbay Express from Bristol to Kingswear and then as there is little to do in Kingswear, I took the ferry across to Dartmouth. We were a bit peckish by then, so we took a seat at the back of a fish and chip restaurant. After a few minutes, another party occupied the table opposite where I was sitting. "He's the spitting image of Charlie Watts" I thought. After conspiratorial conversations amongst the party that I was with and a couple on a neighbouring table we decided that it really was him. It helped that the chap he was with started talking about one of his gigs in Cardiff. I grabbed a sneaky backup photo whilst he wasn't looking, then as we were leaving I summoned the courage to ask him if I could take a photo. He was extremely charming and happily agreed. I bumped into him later on and spoke a few words at Exeter station where Tornado was taking a 50 minute water stop. It seems he was on board too.

This quote from the wiki page linked to above made me laugh:

A famous anecdote relates that in the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts's hotel room in the middle of the night asking where "his drummer" was. Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs and punched Jagger in the face, saying: "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my fucking singer!"
