Bruno: Daniel, do you have my water toy?
Daniel: Nope. Mom has it.
Bruno: Daniel, but I want to jump off the dock and I need my water toy to do that with.
Daniel: Dude, I really don't have it.
Bruno: Are you sure about that? I feel a mighty jump coming on.
Daniel: Yup. I'm sure.
Bruno: Oh. Can you go get it?
Daniel: No. Dad asked us to stand still side by each for this summer time photo of my shoes and your feet.
Bruno: Well, we both know that that isn't going to happen.
Daniel: Are you talking about when you almost dragged me down the dock because my hand was in your collar and you felt a need to jump, or are you talking about the time you decided to jump with no warning and half landed on Dad as he was wading chest deep in the water to take this photo?
Bruno: Yeah, both of those may be relevant talking points. And there may have been other events too.
Daniel: Agreed.

A follow-up shot of the winter one of my daughter and Bruno in the fresh snow from week nine. Thanks Error 454 for the idea to do one of these for each season. Unfortunately I did miss spring, so that will have to wait until 2018. We may be a couple of weeks late for the "shoes" theme, but we did get to it!
And yes, that is a giant 6.5' inflatable duck by the cabin, the things you can find on sale at Canadian Tire. Good fun for the kids and a great landmark to identify the cabin by form the water.
There are stairs to go down below the wall here and swim in the sea but it's rocky so you need watershoes (no problem: all the vendors in Porec, Croatia, have them in stock).

M and G were my oldest virtual friends. The three of us met in the blogosphere about six years ago. We finally met this weekend in Lisbon and had a lot of fun walking downtown together, in spite of the bad weather. Fortunately, on Sunday the sun made a smile and we ran to the historic quarters of Alfama and Castelo de S.Jorge.

Well, looks like everybody's been posting their shots of this place since fall is prime time with lower water levels...this was my first time heading up there...so here's one of my takes!
So, I thought it would be cool to do this river walk withOUT watershoes or a dry suit...so there I was, freezing my poor little feet off in the ice cold water...but it did make the photos all the more worthwhile. I did make it up past the end of Wall Street, but I think this area just might have been my favorite. Hopefully this shot is a little different, more intimate than some of the others you might have seen of this canyon...let me know how it works for you. My camera's pretty much in the water.
This is taking the ultimate amount of self-discipline...but look at me...four shots in a row with no lakes and reflections ;)

I wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to view Graham's ankles, since he sported watershoes and rolled up his trousers! This was the first time in five years I was to witness the event! So while i was lying on my belly to get the best point of view, along came this lovely piping plover. Thanks Graham...
After Maya Bay, we headed to Kai Island to relax on the beach or for more snorkeling in the water. You can pay for a chair to relax in the shade if you like. This young man, with his fair skin, opted to relax. He wears comfortable Speedo trunks, water shoes and carries a few belongings in a satchel.
This was the last stop before returning to Royal Phuket Marina.

With the temps in the 90s, and rocking a pair of shorts with watershoes, I decided a great opportunity to wade into the East Outlet of the Kennebec. The current had a bit of strength to it but once I found a nice spot it was only a few minutes before the train rolled by. Usually there are fishermen here but not a single one today.
CP 251-18 rolls by East Outlet on the Moosehead East Sub (yes, not a typo there).
This is one of my favorite places. It takes some climbing through a log jam and wading through chest deep, freezing cold water to get to this location. It is definitely worth the adventure! If you go here, wear proper footwear (watershoes are best), no kids under 5' tall because you'd have to carry them through the log jam, and be prepared to get wet!
Spent the last four days camping down at a lake. I only pulled out the camera for about 15 minutes the entire time. That's partly due to me being pretty ill a couple of the days. I also wanted to enjoy my time and relax, not play photographer. But anyways, this photo sums up the trip for me.
I wish I were still sitting right there on the dock, with a good oak aged imperial stout in my hand.

Always looking for inexpensive, unusual shoes, I saw these Chinese beach shoes on the Internet. I ordered a pair sized EU 36-37, typical of what I wear most of the time thesse days.
When they arrived, I found them so tight they were almost impossible to get on. But I liked the style so I ordered a pair of the next larger size, 38-39, which have yet to arrive.
But I pulled and yanked on these, and the upper trim gave some, letting me get them on. The orange "netting" also gives. My toes are completely doubled up, which is actually visible through the orange fishnet, but my feet have become very used to that so they are comfortable. I've worn them on several occasions.
An update, the larger ones I ordered just arrived, but they screwed up and shipped me another pair of the too small ones I already had. And I looked at the return address, Wuhan China! Perhaps I need to disinfect them or call the hazardous waste disposal team?!

These were the first pair of "water shoes" I owned, perhaps 15 years ago. I think from Walmart, but I don't even remember. They are branded Aqua Gear.
They are men's 7, EU 40, or at least that's what the tag says. But they are quite snug, and the stitching over the top of my instep irritated my feet. I eventually pulled out the stitching around the top which made them more wearable, but still didn't wear them much.
I hadn't worn them for years. This summer I saw them when digging out a different pair and decided to wear them. I quickly discovered they are falling apart, the rubber sole is crumbling in places, and coming detached from the upper most everywhere..
I think I'll wear them on one of my afternoon hikes, and see how much is left by the end of the hike!
