Day Twenty-Two: January 3rd, 2007.
Setting the past on fire.
This was a Christmas card I found for her at the beginning of December. Before I send it to her, the "relationship" and "friendship' were over.
I won't hang on to it. I won't hang on to the idea of what might have been. There's only - what was. And I saw this coming. I just hoped I was wrong. I just hoped she had SOME respect for me. I never needed her to love me. If it happened, that would have been a blessing beyond belief. I needed her to be a friend and to be honest. I don't know if she was ever really capable of either of those things.
So ashes to ashes. I'll not just survive, I'll thrive. Without her little games tying my stomach in knots and sticking a knife in my heart over and over.
It is done.
That concludes my little diatribe. Regarding this picture, a couple quick comments. I took this just after midnight. And yes, like a previous 365 picture, there's a signficance with the red shirt that I'll just keep to myself for now.
Have you ever set a greeting card on fire? Turns out there was a little more smoke than I thought! I disabled the smoke alarms but I was worried about it wafting out into the hall and this picture resulting in an embarrassing visit from the fire department. So I opened a window and closed the bathroom door. You'll see this in the last picture of the series if you view my photostream.
So by the time I got done burning the card, the whole bathroom had filled with smoke and my eyes were watering like crazy and it was all in my lungs. Not pleasant but rather rather fitting given the subject of this photo shoot.
Much to my amazement, I did not burn down the building nor did I set my beard on fire. All is well.
No Way Fest 2008 at the always money hungry Alley Katz in ugly Shockoe Bottom! Awesome hardcore punk fest held last weekend! All of these were shot with a Canon EOS-20D with a 15mm L glass lens I borrowed from The Pixel Factory and a Speedlite 277T on a Promaster Off Camera Sync Cord! Sorry if you are checking these out and I didn't get pictures of your band, but if you ever play a show in Richmond again please let me know and I will come to shoot you guys!!!
The older you get, the more quiet you become. Life humbles you so deeply as you age. You realize how much nonsense you've wasted time on.

This golf ball has been the perfect shift knob since summer 1998. The dimples are about worn flat in one spot and like new in another spot (needs a cleaning, for those of you with dark colored shifters... Yours needs a cleaning too!).
Snap-on ratchet waiting for a Snap On guy sighting & time to stop to annoy him cause I never buy new, only have them fix stuff.
The coke cup has been there since the opening night of the Papa John's Pizza in Liberty MO (for those out of the loop, that's also summer of 98). Mostly it carries my coins.
The Coke can has sweet, sweet nectar in it, Coke!
