Was surprised to find these tiny flowers in my garden today.

I know I bought the plant last year, but had forgotten what the flowers looked like.

2020 one photo each day

She stood there beside a huge enchanting tree, as if she was inanimate. Everything was in motion except her and the tree. As I moved closer, her eyes bewildered me. She was alive. However it seemed like she was in a different world, was she waiting for anyone or something? The more that I looked at her, the more I would notice her breathing. I was caught by her lifeless nonchalant beauty.

...ok, dann hätte ich gerne eine Sternschnuppe, die Milchstraße & ein Gewitter auf einem Bild...

A deckchair was my point of focus with the intent of placing it somewhere interesting asap. Did a search in the Pixabay app for Deck Chair and found the perfect png, then Landscapes and bingo there was the something interesting that suited my imagination very well.A masterpiece in its own right by KELLEPICS With the perfect scene, the deck chair fit very well. As usual that wasn’t enough for this Tman so I placed a few other images before I was satisfied and the image shown was achieved. The title was a favourite from the good old days. Composite from the following with thanks to the persons for each pic: Beach, children and Jellyfish by:the brilliant KELLEPICS Deckchair: stevebidmead BALLOON:susannp4 via PIXABAY app. RED planet and distant “man” via HUMAN app. Transformation via JUXTAPOSER, HOME,and final touches in SNAPSEED. . This was a series of #legodirtytroopers experiments with Ice Fountain Fireworks (birthday cake fireworks) that I did two months ago. I bought one pack to experiment with (one pack contains 4 ice fountains). Each one lasts for approximately 40 seconds. And I was surprised after my first attempt that none of the minifigures doesn't get burned. So now I keep to use my Stormtroopers in my photographs. More information coming on on my Facebook Page.

Was turning away from photographing the sunset when I noticed this little fellow all on his lonesome.

The first day of the year and I had made a trip to the Rhine

Fresh winter air, waves, seagulls and boats.

And the cycle of the water find out, as I observe powerful waves here that lure the gulls to the mussels.

At the end of my tour I found not even snow.

But more about this later.

I was pleased with the timing of this one, catching the bird just as it launched into flight.

Yesterday we had a sunny, warm day here and I rode to the nest of the storks again.

Luckily I could take a picture when the young stork got some water.

Today it is raining. I wish you a nice Saturday!

When I smoked, when I was married, when I was under 30. I'd have mixed feelings about going back there. And I would not wear those glasses again. LOL!

This photograph was taken early this month from the Lower Seletar Reservoir Heritage Bridge looking towards the Orchid Country Club at sunrise.

It was a calm morning, with relatively still water surface of the reservoir. The sun has just arisen above the vegetation. The clouds and cloudlets were illuminated differently and provided contrasting colours and shapes to the beautiful landscape.

I was very lucky to get a descent shot of this beauty. It was fluttering all over looking for a bug.. This looks like a small grasshopper it has. The shot is cropped quite a bit.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Never really planning to do so, on our recent visit to Grand Teton National Park, we searched an area known for spotting American Badgers.

One friend that led/guided us there mentioned that every time she'd gone to that particular area………she'd run into someone saying..... “You just missed the badger”…..

Well, at the end of the day and on our way leaving out, we spotted this ‘lil guy clipping across the field towards our vehicles.

I managed to jump out and snap off a few quick images.

Our friend was a distance behind us though ….. and as luck would have it .... she missed out again....

Sorry Deb......guess ya jinxed yourself. :-((

So very fortunate that I was able to capture this image and so grateful for the folks who brought us to that location. Thanks again Jen, Debbie, and Tom.

Have a great day !

Branching Out...

Sunday was a perfect winter day for a walk not too cold it was bright and sunny but the wind was blowing from the north and had a bit of a bite to it. we hiked into the park and after about a half an hour found a densely wooded spot where there was some shelter from the wind.

The winter had taken a toll on the trees and there were numerous broken branches big and small scattered around the forest.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

I was sorting through some pictures from our September trip to Costa Rica and came across some decent shots that I had forgotten about.

This fantastic looking bird was guarding a nest on a log that had fallen over a creek at Tortuguero National Park.

(Seen from guided canoe trip)

I was standing at the lynx enclosure at Tierpark Sababurg, straining my eyes to find them in the dense vegetation when all of sudden Lutz stepped out of the undergrowth and strolled down the trunk of a fallen tree. I found it very obliging of him to grace me with his presence and happily started snapping away. :o)

OTTO was born in Zoo Munich (Tierpark Hellabrunn) November 11th, 2020. His birth weight was reading 100 kg !

His mother is TEMI and

his father is GAJENDRA

He is well cared for by his mom and all his aunties. Best of all is that he is getting on very well with his Dad. Both love each other dearly :-)

I was focused on a couple of Eagles on a stump and along comes a Harrier....I was only out to 263mm and wasn't quick enough to pull my lens out...darn. More of a scenic but I still like it.

Was so fortunate to join the Ventura Audubon Society on a birding expedition to Costa Rica in Feb. 2022.

This male peacock was demonstrating his mating display at the Cascade Gorge Gardens. The colours are magnificent of course, but infrared here provides us with something else. Not only can we see the intricate pattern of the feathers, but infrared highlights the shafts or struts that support the plumes.

One thing that is obvious is that the peacock was in perpetual motion*, and hence the slight blurring of the image. However, if you enlarge this one you can still see a great deal of subtle definition in the way the infrared light is shining through the feathers.

* I found this example from a scientific paper:

"In previous studies, scientists discovered that male peacocks shake their feathers at a specific resonant frequency that is not only energy efficient but also hypnotizes the females. The eye spots appear to be motionless while the large feathers vibrate at high speeds, which has a mesmerizing effect on potential mates." www.earth.com/news/male-peacocks-courtship-display/

This was the most amazing evening . . . the light was incredible and I didn't know where to look . . . behind me the sky was pink and blue (as in previous photo) and in front of me it was bright orange, red and gold . . . a beautiful Winter's evening of colour and contrasts.

But my Shotgun was bigger!

I was coming to the end of a visit to Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve where I had seen very little bird activity. Then, surprise, surprise, one of my favorites appeared from no where - a Green Heron focused on finding a meal among the rushes. Made my day.

It was a cold and breezy December afternoon with fast changing clouds running across the sky with a little hope for sunshine… until the Sun break through the clouds for a shot time. This panorama is a composite of 2 horizontal images to capture this dramatic moment. The Cotswold Way, Lansdown Hill near Bath, BANES, England, UK.

Thank you all very much for your visit, favours and comments, much appreciated.

... was in my brain, made the things don't seem the same - Jimi Hendrix

I've probably been saying this for 10 years on Flickr now. But i do enjoy a spending a bit of time before work in Eastham Woods. Especially around this time of year! Its good for the mind and a brisk walk before work is great for waking you up!

I really like this spot. Its on the edge of the woods which allows the light to penetrate the canopy and light up the Autumn leaves. It was a rather damp morning from the night before and the sun was hiding behind a few scattered clouds. A Polarising filter really helped to bring the colours out by reducing the reflection on the wet leaves.

It was nice of the shop to line them up like that, but they could have made them a bit straighter for me! ;) If I could have reached I would have done it myself... =)

I was lucky enough to receive an invite to visit a pals hide last week. There was lots of action and variety including a good number of jays.

Thanks again Ian.

It was a long day of trek with steady up and down through bushes and woods.....although the knees aching and the sack getting heavier, the beauty around was so inspiring that we kept on walking with ease of mind....ahead was my husband and a little more away was my son...
