So.. turns out we have to leave our rented home of eight years. The lovely lady who owns it has decided she wants us out by the end of December. Merry Christmas! So we've been house hunting. This sticker on the back door of a home I looked at today kinda described how I feel about this entire thing...

On a walk at Palo Alto Baylands (found on Bay Area Hiker's dog hikes page).
Wally didn't mind the airplanes taking off and landing. He's becoming a lot less nervous around unfamiliar noises. (Though he had a weird fear of a manhole cover today.)
We saw these signs after we had been walking out in the lake.
The top sign says "WARNING! Lake Closed do not walk or drive on lake bed. DANGER! Walking on the shoreline is potentially dangerous and can adversely affect your health and safety. Access prohibited until further notice by order of the Environmental Health Officer."
The lower sign says "WARNING. Unexploded ammunition may be found in this area. DO NOT HANDLE ANY SUSPICIOUS ITEMS. Report them to the nearest police."

June 29, 2018 - The Amtmann house (Amtmannshúsið) is owned by five couples including our guide Gudrun and her husband Stefan. It has a very long storied history. Gudrun has told us that it has the distinction of being the former residence of the Danish Prefect when Iceland belonged to Denmark. .It is the oldest house built by the Danish still standing in Iceland. It was built during between 1774 - 1787 at Arnarstapa. It was then taken apart and moved to Vogi in 1849. Then it was taken apart in 1983 and was stored at the National Museum of Iceland in Reykjavik before being purchased by the couples. It was rebuilt in Arnarstap and has slowly been restored and additional out buildings have been built in the last 25 years. It is currently a shared vacation house. We weren't able to see the inside but we did look in the windows.
