The Severn Gorge at Ironbridge where much of the town is built on the side of the groge. On a rather bright and warmday early summer 2023.

Ironbridge as a town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Groynes reduce longshore transport by trapping beach material and causing the beach orientation to change relative to the dominant wave directions. They mainly influence bedload transport and are most effective on shingle or gravel beaches. Sand is carried in temporary suspension during higher energy wave or current conditions and will therefore tend to be carried over or around any cross-shore structures. Groynes can also be used successfully in estuaries to alter nearshore tidal flow patterns.

Westkapelle has two lighthouses, one in the south, Zuiderhoofd lighthouse (South Head lighthouse) or “Hoge Licht” or “Zuiderhof” that can be seen as soon as you enter the town by Westkapelle Hoog, and the second on the northern seawall, the so-called "Iron tower" also known as Noorderhoofd (North Head).

This Zuiderhoofd lighthouse was once a church tower that was destroyed by fire and turned into a lighthouse in 1800. An unusual feature of this lighthouse is that it is located inland and not directly on the coast. The second lighthouse, the “Iron tower” stand on the sea dike to the south of Westkapelle (Westkapelle Laag). Together these two lighthouses form guide ships in a straight line along the coast.

A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and used as an aid to navigation for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways.

Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, safe entries to harbors, and can also assist in aerial navigation. Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has declined due to the expense of maintenance and replacement by modern electronic navigational systems.

For a long time, Westkapelle was a very closed community, although this is less so nowadays due to tourism and the so-called import (people who moved to the village from other parts of the Netherlands). This was, and is, obvious from the limited number of surnames in the village; furthermore, because it was customary to name children after their grandparents, (great)uncles and (great)aunts, many people had exactly the same name.

Westkapelle is a small city in the municipality of Veere on the island Walcheren, in the province Zeeland of the Netherlands. On 1 January 2019, it had a population of 2,594. Westkapelle is on the westernmost tip of Walcheren and is surrounded by the sea on three sides.

Westkapelle was a separate municipality from 1816 until 1997, when it was merged with Veere.

A cold drink is perfect for the heat arriving at Summertime

When the outside temperature is high, the snow on the branches melts and falls down with snow smoke.

October 2022 was very warm, and on this day many people went to the beach to swim. Makarska is a city under the Biokovo mountain, a city with beautiful pebble beaches, a city that many tourists from all over the world like to come to.

The Tremeloes - Silence Is Golden

Oh, don't it hurt deep inside

To see someone do something to her

Oh, don't it pain

to see someone cry

Oh, especially when someone is her

Silence is golden, but my eyes still see

Silence is golden, golden

But my eyes still see

Talking is cheap, people follow like sheep

Even though there is nowhere to go

How could she tell, he deceived her so well

Pity, she'll be the last one to know

How many times will she fall for his line

Should I tell her or should I keep cool?

And if I tried, I know she'd say I lied

Mind your business, don't hurt her, you fool

Sailing Rod Stewart

I am sailing, I am sailing,

Home again cross the sea.

I am sailing, stormy waters,

To be near you, to be free.

I am flying, I am flying,

Like a bird cross the sky.

I am flying, passing high clouds,

To be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me

Thro the dark night, far away,

I am dying, forever trying,

To be with you, who can say..........................

Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne, Victoria (ABCTV Weather)

In the warm weekends it is very busy at the several mountain rivers. A lot of people swim in the river and are having a picnic on the shore. And so did we.
