On Sept 2, 1945, after the Japanese surrendered to the US, Navy ships set off artillery shells as fireworks. Many thanks to flizzix for her photo, with it I was able to identify what theses photos actually were of.

I have declared war on the neighboring people of the Shabti tribe (pocholo).
I will be using this every time I declare war on someone. I just love this episode of Futurama.

This war memorial is dedicated to 11 different men who fought in the Revolutionary War. It is located inside the gates of the Old Episcopal Burying Ground in Lexington, Ky. This cemetery filled up and Lexington Cemetery opened so 6 of the men were moved there but 5 are still buried here.

Spring Forest Cemetery, established in 1849, is a designated burial ground in Binghamton, New York. It is the burial place of several famous people, including Civil War Union Major General and Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient John Cleveland Robinson.
The Transnistria War was an armed conflict that broke out in November 1990 in Dubăsari between pro-Transnistria forces, including the Transnistrian Republican Guard, militia and Cossack units (which were supported by elements of the Russian 14th Army), and pro-Moldovan forces, including Moldovan troops and police.
War-time graffiti on the cellar walls, dated September 1940. The National Amalgamated Approved Society (NAAS), the organisation which administered National Insurance payments, was based at the site at the time.

This is a Photoshop experiment. The original is a fairly bland photo of some Civil War re-enactors' tents; the depth of field had pretty much everything in focus. I tried to duplicate the 1800s camera look with something a bit more elaborate than just adding a sepia tint. Didn't come out perfectly (there are some issues with the foreground blur segments not blending together), but it's more of a proof-of-concept.

Gone the Rainbow, Return the Dove is an original play by Creighton Theatre faculty member, Michael McCandless. It presents Americans at war from a uniquely personal perspective. The title is derived from an 18th century Irish song about a woman who laments her lover going off to war, and her fears of never seeing him again. Based on original letters and diaries written to and from battle zones, the play dramatizes the lives of individuals from the American Revolution to present-day Afghanistan.
