Nochmals ein Blick vom Tempel auf die Stadt Rüdesheim und dann geht es so langsam dem Ende der Wanderung zu.... Diesmal haben wir die Seilbahn gewählt....
It was a miserable day today but having had a nightmare week both at work and at home we decided to jump in the car and find out where we were going when we got there.
Blick auf das Richard-Wagner-Denkmal im Liebethaler Grund bei Pirna
Während seiner Zeit als Hofkapellmeister in Dresden weilte Richard Wagner im Sommer 1846 einige Wochen in Graupa, unternahm von hier aus Wanderungen ins Umfeld und konzipierte wesentliche Teile seiner Oper Lohengrin.
In Erinnerung an Wagner entwarf der Bildhauer Richard Guhr bereits 1911/12 ein monumentales Wagner-Denkmal, das ursprünglich im Großen Garten in Dresden aufgestellt werden sollte. Der Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkrieges und die Wirtschaftskrise verhinderten dies jedoch. Das Denkmal geriet in Vergessenheit. Erst Anfang der 1930er Jahre entdeckte der Künstler Sizzo Stief die Bronze wieder und ließ sie 1933 auf einem Sockel am heutigen Standort im Liebethaler Grund am Ufer der Wesenitz unweit der Lochmühle errichten.
Das Denkmal zeigt Wagner als Gralsritter. Umgeben ist er von fünf Figuren, welche die Elemente seiner Musik verkörpern: das Sphärische, das Lyrische, das Dramatische, das Dionysische und das Dämonische. Insgesamt ist die Skulptur 4,2 Meter hoch. Sie steht auf einem 8 Meter hohen Sandsteinsockel und ist somit das weltweit größte Wagner-Denkmal.

Assmannshausen ist seit 1977 ein Stadtteil von Rüdesheim
am Rhein im südwestlichen Hessen und die wohl bekannteste
Rotweingemeinde in Deutschland.
Today is Monday. It’s cold, windy with heavy showers. We don’t want that.
Let’s remember a lovely warm, sunny, Spring day with the sunlight filtering through the trees a light breeze and time to wander.

A wander through the woods at Castle Loch, Lochmaben. The mist drifting through the trees creating a wee bit of atmosphere.
Up at 4.30am for a blast somewhere looking for a nice misty dawn. It didn't really work out so I had a bit of an aimless wander looking for nice wee shots. I found this little copse I'd never been to before and was there just at the right time. A spot I will return to I think.
Can't wait to get back out there. Hopefully everyone is staying safe and healthy as we head into the holiday season!
Der Binger Mäuseturm ist ein ehemaliger Wehr und Wachturm.
Er steht auf der Mäuseinsel im Rhein, vor dem Stadtteil Bingerbrück.
Der knapp 25 Meter hohe Zollwachturm Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts erbaute Mäuseturm erhielt seinen Namen nach einer Sage....

The old town, perched on a limestone island, is connected to the new part of the town, on the mainland, by an arched bridge built in the 1900s. Another bridge to the port has recently been added. The walls, bastions, and towers, which originally defended the town from invaders, today protect it from rough seas, while also preserving the charm of days gone by.
Before exploring the narrow paved streets of the historic centre, from where you can catch an occasional glimpse of the sea, stop off at the authentic fish market, held in what used to be the moat of the imposing castle, to vie with the locals for the best of the day's catch. The Angevin fortress, almost completely surrounded by the sea, was recently restored and is now accessible from the old town. Here you can immerse yourself in the history, as you wander through fortified towers, tunnels, corridors, and majestic halls.
