25th of March is celebrated with waffles in Sweden because it's nine months until Christmas and this is supposedly the date Mary found out that she was carrying the baby Jesus.

Made these Almond Waffles in my handy dandy waffle/pancake maker this morning. The plates come out of the waffle maker and are dishwasher safe for easy clean-up. We ate some and I'm freezing the rest. When we want more just pop two of the frozen ones into the toaster to warm them, put some butter and maple syrup on top for a tasty breakfast.

Girl working at a waffle and ice cream shop in Antwerp's old town. When just baked, waffles look wonderfully yellow (and greasy!), especially in artifical light. I don't think the girl had similar thoughts when I made this pic. She looked tired, as if she was longing for the sun to set, so she could close the place.

Today was a busy day; went to a state park in NY this morning, then hit the road back to Canada, once back in the country I immediately went to my parent's place for dinner and to pick up Fyero.
Luckily Dad permitted me to have one of their "skinny cow" ice creams, so not only did I get a treat but a photo as well. Which is a nice bonus since when I finally walked in the door to my place I was pretty tired from my day and wasn't looking forward to setting up a shot at home.
Laziness wins out, and a simple shot works for today. :)

Amy and I went to a random place for dinner and under desserts was a selection of waffles. Waffles for dinner. Why the hell not? Why WOULDN'T anyone want waffles for dinner? These were quite good and there were loads of fruit on top! Mmmm.
Fried chicken with crisp bacon, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and mayonnaise sandwiched between two sweet Belgian waffles.
