The Pavilion at the Nature Boardwalk (South Pond) near the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Illinois was designed by Studio Gang Architects. Inspired by the tortoise shell, the laminated structure has bent-wood members and a series of interconnected fiberglass pods. Built in 2010.

DSCN4939-002 Woven
Very fine brass woven wire. It's been sitting in the "wire" drawer in my craft room for ages and now it's finally getting used! lol.. HMM :-)
Early in the morning above the Gila River near Kearny, AZ. As soon as the sun appeared above the landscape, these clouds disappeared.
One summer morning after a heavy dew fell overnight, I spotted this intricate spider web. It was woven on and around some rhododendron leaves. The first thing I thought of was that the web and leaves were shaped just like a sailboat.

For the Macro Monday theme 'Wire' (October 14th 2019)
Silver wire woven into a bracelet. The bracelet (in the 2nd comment field) is made entirely of strands of silver wire. There is no soldering, just bending and weaving the silver. Even the clasp is made from strands of silver wire. This was hand-made for me by a friend who was beginning to learn metal-working at the time - 'The Adventurous Silversmith'. She made me three kinds of woven silver bracelets. Another one was used for the last MM in 2013. That one is linked through from the first comment field, and is a Roman and Viking design. ;o)
Several people have asked about my talented friend who made these lovely bracelets. She has a wide variety of metalworking skills - and other things too
www.theadventuroussilversmith.com/ Do indeed check her website out. Laurie Kern is her name, and currently she is living and working in Texas ;o)
