Floris was put to sleep by the vet. 16 years old. He could not go on like this. He lost a lot of weight and strength and the inflamation of his nose got worser and worser .This was caused by a polyp in the nose against the eye socket that couldnot be operated. The antibiotics didnot work anymore. There was no longer any prospect of improvement.
The inflammation had become very bad. He was on painkillers the last two month.
De dierenarts heeft Floris laten inslapen. Net 16 jaar oud. Zo kon hij niet verder. Hij verloor veel gewicht en kracht en de ontsteking van zijn neus werd erger en erger. Dit werd veroorzaakt door een poliep in de neus tegen de bovenkant van de oogkas aan die niet kon worden geopereerd. De antibiotica werkten niet meer. Er was geen zicht meer op verbetering. De ontsteking was heel erg geworden. Hij gebruikte de afgelopen twee maanden pijnstillers.

btw we've got SNOW coming! Yes ... the frozen stuff. Our meteorologists are all in a frenzy. Stores will be packed. Atlanta will come to a halt. It actually might be worse downtown than farther north in Georgia ... we'll have to see.

YES! Finally, after 2 Years it's finally time to Fly to my Country to see my Familie and Friends.
Can't tell how excited it is and it feels very strange now to fly again.
We all got some worse Time and hope really for everyone who didn't see Familie and Friends for a long time, they see them soon.

I am praying to The Lord for that message to my godmother. Tell her that it broke my heart because I was not able to see her or hug her when she passed away in NC. This made it worse for me twice since my grandmother had gone last time. However, I am happy that my godmother isn't in pain anymore when she is already in heaven like a new home. Please kiss her cheek and give her a red rose for me. I love her very much as like a "mom" more than being a godmother. I will never forget the wonderful memories of her since I grew up. It was a cloudy day with sun breaking the clouds once in a while. The wind was getting worse and we were thinking of getting back to shore since we didn't have any life jackets on. And then these birds just flew parallel to our small boat. And as soon as they aligned perfectly to the sun which was behind us, the water turned magically blue reflecting the beautiful sky above us.
These gulls, also known as the Great Black Headed gull, are a decently large bird species bigger than the others I have seen so far. They are migratory from Southern Russia, Mongolia and winter in India.

This dilapidated jetty at Curlewis has seen better days but still provides lots of opportunities if you are willing to risk being cut off by the rising tide!
There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning and finding a big container ship or a grain barge in your yard. The obvious way to keep this from happening is to purchase one of our medium sized home lighthouses. This concrete model is very heavy and should only be erected by professional light house installers. (I have no idea where you can find anyone like that so don’t call and ask). This model has a lifetime warranty. It does come with instructions in case you have to do it yourself, but I would suggest you need big equipment.
On the other hand, we do sell a wooden model (not shown) that is easier to erect. It comes with only a one year warranty, for obvious reasons.

Absolutely the worse day I have ever attempted photography......thanks to Hurricane Joaquin off the NJ coast. (But I'm certain you all have done the same). I was just happy that these guys gave us something to smile about with their perfect placement......and happy you can see them too through the huge raindrops! I bet the weather didn't bother them one bit....
11th April 2020:
Today started off worse than yesterday, but after a bit it got better and once Graham had taken Rufus for his first walk (only over the road), I went down to the lower car park to see what was going on down there. Oddly not a lot.
Although I had fun looking at all the new flowers that are coming into bloom and got some much needed vitamin D. I was worrying about how long I had been out for, rather than concentrating on my photography; a lot of the photos didn't come out but I'll get used to timing myself better, I hope.
Found these lovely Pot marigolds in a garden at the back of the car park and really liked them, so chose it for my photo for today.

It was somewhat worse late the night before. I put in a path last year as in the last year it's got much worse. I know why but can't comment here.
Usually, I have the lawn like a bowling green by May and I wanted some planting done but it's just still too wet. It's far better today as I post this, yet still too wet to mow and more rain in the forecast.

I have returned to a spot in Radcliffe each year to photograph or just watch the sand martins at their nests. Watching the young being fed and fledging is a sheer delight. The location does not bring happy memories as far as humans are concerned. I did not return in 2020. In 2019 a thief tried to relieve me of the contents of my photography bag (not the first time that has happened). On my last visit in 2019 (on an early Sunday morning when all was quiet) I was seen by a quad biker who later brought his mates to the spot where I was photographing, no doubt intent on relieving me of my gear. In anticipation, I made my escape and concealed myself from their view...I could see their frustration and bafflement when they saw I was gone. But worse was to come. A couple of months after being at the site, a young man threw a baby in a Moses basket over the bridge and into the river 40 ft below. The baby died. The man was later arrested and banged up in a mental ward. I learned recently he is now charged with murder. He was the father of the child! I will visit the site again but it will never be quite the same.
As for this image...I love the way the birds are looking at each other. Getting three birds in one image with good head angles is near impossible.
Things got a lot worse than they were.
I fell over in early October and broke my leg. Was in hospital for 5 weeks and am now in a convalescent home until January. When hopefully I might just get home on two legs.
Luckily Graham now has loads of extra help, so although he's finding it difficult he's OK. Also has a very modern walking aid, so can get about a bit.
The hospital's idea of having a link to the outside world was only down in the café and for the main part I couldn't get down to it. Here is even worse as the reception for the Internet is pitiful. Am using my laptop with the "boss'" Smartphone sitting next to me.
Will try and get back to see how you all are, but that is only when Julian can lend me his phone!!
The scuffles we witnessed on the lek usually involved a couple of birds facing off and trying to grab feathers from each other. These two birds, however, were much more committed to conflict-- multiple times we saw them latch on to each other and end up rolling on the ground as they tried to get the other to submit. They always strutted away, apparently no worse for the wear, but it was a bit unnerving. They were definitely the exception to what we saw, though.
Temps were in the high 80s/Low 90s when this guy showed up, it only got worse! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there, but those slabs give off a LOT of heat!

It wasn't the best weather, but took the dogs out today for a run before all the fall foliage is gone. Sadly, this may have been Darla's last excursion away from home... her dementia is getting worse and although she seemed to like the walk for a while, she clearly got confused and didn't know where she was towards the end. I also felt badly that she couldn't keep up with the boys.
