1/4th of a wisdom tooth started to grow in my mouth in August and it has gotten infected twice and just generally made my life hell. Little did I know, it was the most normal wisdom tooth I have (bottom right)! So that one is partially impacted and the others are bony impactions, so my surgeon tells me.
I am scheduled to have the bottom 2 out in two weeks, because that's all I can afford at the moment, but over the summer I have to get the other two out (especially the top left, because it is almost backwards). So yay, I am very excited to get my mouth ripped open and have someone drilling into my jaw bone. Luckily I will be sedated--I got the same thing for my upper endoscopy a few years ago and it is gloriously wonderful.

The Wisdom Path is a short walk from the Po Lin Monastery, and the Heart Sutra is inscribed on the wooden trunks (above) arranged in the infinity symbol. Description from nearby sign:
"Introduction to the Heart Sutra
"The full title of this sutra is Prajna-paramita Heart Sutra of which Prajna-paramita is a Sanskrit term. Prajna means wisdom, paramita means perfection; accordingly, Prajna-paramita means 'the perfection of Wisdom'. This sutra is more briefly named the Heart Sutra. It is called the "Heart" in as much as it subsumes the essence of the Perfection of Wisdom of the Buddha. It is the best known Mahayana sutra, and, at 260 words, it is also the shortest.
"The Heart Sutra articulates the doctrine of 'emptiness'. but this 'emptiness' must not be understood as the denial of phenomenal existence - it is not nihilism. What it teaches is that everything is dependently arisen from conditions: an event (a 'thing') occurs if and only if the adequacy of conditions obtains. Since everything is dependently arisen, there is no such thing as an eternally abiding entity. The doctrine of emptiness also spells out the relativity of all views. When one acquires this Wisdom of 'emptiness', one will realize that everything can be changed by modifying the conditions. Understanding the relativity of all standpoints will also prevent one from becoming irrationally attached to things. In this way, one will come to be free from all mental obstructions and attain to perfect harmony and bliss. At the same time, with the understanding that all are dependently arisen, one will treasure and make good use of the conditions that are available, realizing the ideal of benefiting oneself and others.
"Since the 3rd century A.D. there have been a total of twenty-one Chinese translations of the Sutra. Of these, this version by Xuan Zang is the best known. The Heart Sutra has been extensively transmitted throughout China, Japan and Korea, and for over a thousand years has been recited daily by the East Asian clergy and laity alike."

On virtually every stupa (Buddhist shrine) in Nepal, there are giant pairs of eyes staring out from the four sides of the main tower.
These are Buddha Eyes (also known as Wisdom Eyes), and they look out in the four directions to symbolize the omniscience (all-seeing) of a Buddha.
The Buddha eyes are so prevalent throughout the country that they have become a symbol of Nepal itself.
Between the Buddha's eyes where the nose would be is a curly symbol that looks like question mark.
This is the Nepali character for the number 1, which symbolizes unity of all the things as well as the one way to reach enlightenment—through the Buddha's teachings.
Above this is a third eye, symbolizing the all-seeing wisdom of the Buddha.
