Campus Wisdom Exhibition April 1st -30th, 2014
Public and social practice artist Van C. Tran was spring 2014 Artist-in-Residence at The John Spoor Broome Library at CSU Channel Islands. Throughout the month of April, her site-specific multimedia installation sought out words of wisdom from members of the CI campus community. See Campus Wisdom website. Van C. So here it is, the Wisdom Path. I'd walked all the way to see this, but I did not go onto the trail itself due to the up incline. The totem poles seen here each bear an inscription with teachings from the Buddha, hence the name Wisdom Path. Hong Kong, Jan/ Feb. 2012.
I'm taking all those books to the beach with me. I've read all but Atonement and Love in the Time of Cholera. Taken on my webcam.
A shot of my "Skinny Grandmother". My "Fat Grandmother" passed away a little over a year ago. Back in Laos my grandfather married both my Skinny and Fat grandma because my Skinny Grandma (who he married first) could not have kids. So, in the old fashion way of life, the he was allowed to marry someone who could have kids (my Fat Grandma, also my mom's mother).
Waorani wisdom:
“During our youth, we Waorani women went for walks with our parents and grandparents in order to share in their activities and access to all the secrets of the forest. There is much appeal to positions of leadership, but with great power comes great responsibility. Ignorance is bliss and knowledge can be a burden. Being omniscient in a world of poverty, despair, and corruption can seriously depress a person. There's only so much truth eyes can healthily proccess. Maybe we would all be better off if we just covered them.
Wisdom Teeth/Nightmare
Just thought I would vent my experience in my daughter's wisdom teeth. She just had 4 removed and what a nightmare for me. It took 1 1/2 hrs for preciser. The two top ones didn't need stitches but the bottom 2 did. They were inverted and broke so they were a bit more problem. I took her home and told her to rest all day and sleep. The numbness didn't go away for almost 5 hrs. She thought she was going to faint a few times so I told her to prop her feet up. She started to feel sick and did. Almost a cup of blood. I was so scared that I had to hold my cool. I am a basket case and I hate going through this stuff with your child. She couldn't eat or drink for all 5 hours and that is what happens. So I called her dentist and they said it was normal and to drink and not talk. Try not to use the muscles in the face. Wow that is very hard. She was so scared that I had to take a deep breath and stay calm. Finally I kept putting ice packs and giving her Gatorade in a medicine cup so she could drink a little. They don't want her to get a dry socket.
It is night time now and she is a little better. She ate ice cream and applesauce. She is also drinking still a little from a medicine cup. Now she doesn't want to sleep for she might choke on the dripping in the back of her throat. So I said she can sit in our lazy boy chair and that way she is elevated. I guess we will decide what to do later. Prayers everyone!!!
I know this might be hard to read but you all might have to go through this one day yourselves. So I am giving you a heads up on what can happen.

I made my oral surgeon cookies as a present when I had my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday. He got a bunch of regular teeth and 4 "wisdom teeth" since I had all 4 removed. He didn't look in the bag until after the surgery, and I was still a little out of it, so I hope he understood why some of the teeth had "wisdom" sayings on them....
Wisdom is the ability, developed through experience, insight and reflection, to discern truth and exercise good judgment. Wisdom is sometimes conceptualized as an especially well developed form of common sense.
Had my wisdom teeth extracted last Friday. Yay for drugs. I've recovered pretty rapidly, actually. I felt fine, besides some minor soreness, just an hour after the operation. I think I had a good surgeon besides resiliant gums. It really wasn't as terrible of an experience as I feared.

There was a time when I was spinning my own wool, making pullovers to sell on the beach in the boutique of a school friend. I would have loved to use the wool of this one!
I went to get my wisdom teeth dug out of my face today and figured this would be a prime time for the 365. I had to ask for a little assistance from the dental tech in some of the pictures, like the one of me all geared up and the one of me coming out of it, but after I explaned the reasoning, she and the other techs got into it. :) So for the next couple of days I'm gonna be drugged up and sleeping...we'll see what we can do for 365's; maybe some nice chipmunk face shots in a day or two.

I just came back from the dentist to extract 2 wisdom teeth. Both were on my right jaw, one on the upper & one on the lower. The lower one grew improperly & made me feel headache sometimes. The upper one kept growing & it was almost 50% longer than the other as the lower one wasn't growing properly. It will eventually hurt my wound if I keep it. So I took the advice to remove the top one as well. Now my cheek is still numb and swell. I can only chat with friends on msn, couldn't talk on phone.
