that's not blood, it's decay...
The first one (on the left) has an extra point (I don't know what to call the bits on the griding surface) growing out of its side -- yeah, that's useful.
I have always liked the idea of doors. I remember years ago taking photos of doors in a sleepy California beachside town - I guess I have just liked them forever. They represent new beginnings - or ends. You usually can't see what lies beyond them. There is an inherent risk, a decision, in opening them and moving through them.
In this case, this door caught my eye, both for its grandeur and the lighting. I saw this while walking around on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. College kids walk through these doors every day, starting anew, taking risks, and hopefully gaining the wisdom they are seeking.

This is my grandfather, Victor. A humble man, begins his days very early and works his tools with admirable strength and dedication.
I enjoy visiting him and have him dust off a story or two, and try to learn from his hard earned knowledge.
What an honor to carry this man's blood.

Disfruto mucho visitarlo y escuchar sus historias, y tratar de aprender algo de su vasto conocimiento adquirido a lo largo de los años.
Es un verdadero honor llevar la sangre de este hombre.

I haven't been out and about with my camera very much lately so I thought it would be interesting to explain my Flickr absence with an alternative sort of image. I've recently had two wisdom teeth removed in seperate operations on the bottom jaw. The last one got yanked today so now I'm free of them! This is an X-ray of my head which was taken shortly before the first tooth extraction. You don't need to be a dentist to see that the teeth at both ends of the lower jaw shouldn't be impacted at right-angles to the rest of the mouth, so I was eager to get the surgery out of the way.
Anthropologists believe wisdom teeth, the third set of molars, were the evolutionary answer to our ancestor’s early diet of coarse, rough food – like leaves, roots, nuts and meats – which required more chewing power and resulted in excessive wear of the teeth. The modern diet with its softer foods, along with marvels of modern technologies such as forks, spoons and knives, has made the need for wisdom teeth nonexistent. As a result, evolutionary biologists now classify wisdom teeth as vestigial organs, or body parts that have become functionless due to evolution. Indeed, many people are lucky enough to be born with the fortunate genetic mutation of having no wisdom teeth at all - apparently you have a 25% chance of being born with at least one or more of them missing.
A majestic African elephant, dusted in sand, roams the arid savanna. Its weathered skin tells the story of resilience, wisdom, and the untamed beauty of the wild. Captured in the heart of Etosha National Park, this gentle giant embodies the spirit of Africa’s vast landscapes.
Ever since I saw kevsyd's (Kevin Best) works, I started to like Still Photography even more and I think I found my favored genre. I know it still has some imperfections, but one book I read once said, "Who cares?", well that's it, who cares? Hope you like it.
I usually don't photograph people - especially not random strangers. There was just something interesting about these two; they were deep in conversation for a good length of time. The eldery woman had a wonderfully expressive face.
I may make this photo private after a while... I am just curious as to how much 'attention' this shot is going to attract.

Wisdom returned to Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge on November 26, 2021. Biologists first identified and banded Wisdom in 1956 after she had laid an egg, perhaps her first egg. Female Laysan albatrosses aren't known to breed before age 5, indicating that Wisdom would have hatched as late as 1951, which would make her at least 70 years old at this point of her life-journey.
Here lie the wisdom teeth of me and my dad. No wonder I've become slightly dumb after they were pulled out. (Exceptionally painfully, of course)
My extracted, decayed wisdom tooth. Came out in one continuous rotational (right-handed z-axis) pull.
The Wisdom Garden at Mushrif Central Park, Abu Dhabi.
Taken from the excellent vantage point of the parks Shade Garden, and gives a good idea of how green and open this part of Abu Dhabi is.
The mosque is located just outside of the park, on its southern flank.
