Oh God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change

The courage to change the things that I can

The wisdom to know the difference...

and God give me the courage to love with an open heart

I wanna love with an open heart

funny how events affect you, in accordance to the gravity, proximity, and relationship you entertain with the person( s) involved in it. it all registers at the same place in the brain, but resonates differently in the soul, from indifference to pious behavior of regret and redemption. at times, from a distance it is mainly an ego type of a thing, and it remains as such, only amplified by the moment when the "I" comes into play. , when we say I could have done this and that to prevent it... prevent what? aggravate what? events as such , that strike close to our core, mark the birth of our sight upon millions of roads, filled with what ifs and could haves, but in reality these roads are always present, at each second of our lives, but we chose to ignore them. self preserving mechanism perhaps, preventing us to drive ourselves crazy thinking that we could have had the power to prevent anything that does not strike our fancy as juicy enough or wearing an appropriate enough perfume to properly tickle our imagination of things to come.

........... the disturbing and disturbed remains the presence of a perverse reality acknowledging that for some, the lure of the smell of fresh leather in a new car, looks frighteningly similar to the need of a fresh glass of water for others. ( referring to haiti, amongst other things)..........

Going to start a random series on various people on the street, from various age group, occupations.......pretty random thought....should be fun...cheers

I go in for wisdom tooth surgery tomorrow morning at 7:45am. Due to the severe impaction and angle of my impacted wisdom tooth, I will be put under general anesthesia for the procedure. My other three wisdom teeth will be pulled at the same time.

I'm nervous. I have never been put under general anesthesia. :(

During a 2015 visit to a whisky festival on The Isle of Islay, Scotland, I saw this dog in Bruichladdich distillery yard (during the open day). Something made me crouch down and see the wisdom in his eyes.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

Beautiful ballerina and professional ballet dancer! You've seen her dancing ballet in other photos! Here the goddess is modeling 45SURF as a surf girl! :)

initially thought of going for the color version, so shot this with my color combo to bring out the colors.. but then.. the b&w came into my mind.. and it looks good too..

this was taken inside the tower at the 2nd floor...

So....my last two uploads have looked way darker on some screens than when I processed them. I think it may have something to do with color profiles getting mixed up when I process by going Lightroom -> Photoshop -> Lightroom -> Photoshop. Yeah, sometimes I move the image back and forth between the two several times prior to my final export. Anyway, the main issue is that once uploaded, my three prior photos looked fine on the Web from my MacBook Pro, but when I looked at them on a different computer they looked darker, flatter, and more drab. Still learning.... :)

Today I got my last wisdom tooth pulled. It was just a regular pull and was not as bad as I was preparing myself for. I was really freaking out this morning before they pulled it, but with the help of my i pod and my mom I made it through it.

When the dentist asked if I wanted to take the tooth home I of course said yes and was already planning how I was going to photograph it. haha.

Yes it may seem kinda gross... but I think it's pretty cool :)

Wisdom or the inner light is like the legendary precious stone, O Rama, which bestows on its owner whatever he wishes to have. When one's intelligence and understanding are properly guided by this inner light, one reaches the other shore of this world-illusion easily. One who does not have this wisdom, is overcome by obstacles and drowns in world-illusion. - Yoga Vasistha

During a meeting we discussed the ability to know what we do not know. A colleague rightly mentioned that wisdom is knowing what we don't know. I think it was Confucius who said that "True wisdom is knowing what you don't know". While Socrates is quoted to have said "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing". Without going into the philosophical debate, I believe that we know an extremely small part of what we don't know, our ignorance. And that the vast majority of it is unknown to us. My illustration of this idea is in the picture, what do you think?

I was trying hard to take a picture of this paintings on "Museu do Oriente". They were several like this part of a collection of the teachings of Buddha, very dark and with indirect lights. I wanted texture and a nice composition .. so here it is (critiques always welcomed)

This is a smaller version of a Little Golden Book which was read over and over at home when I was a young child. The message of this old English folktale, in case you haven't read it, is that producing a loaf of bread takes a lot of hard work. Those who choose not to do the work will regret their lazy behavior at a later time.

My family had/has a very strong work ethic. I think I have struggled with the hard worker concept my whole life. If I work as hard as I really should, I miss out on the smiles, fun, excitement, joy happening on the other side of the fence. I have let work pile up while I read books, played with my children, tried new things, took naps. Far too often neglected work to have fun. Hard to find a good balance, I think. But I know one thing after this many years ... I'm not the little red hen.

jungle wisdom: just rub them on your skin and it will protect you against musquitos

Seeing this tree in all its autumn colors in the soft morning light, I realised life is too beautiful to be spent in an airconditioned cubicle.

Later a 'cubilcle of wisdom' rescued me by making me realise that life is too difficult without money. So here's back to slavery. I am sure the tree will still be there 5 years from now.

I have a series of self-portraits I took while recovering from my wisdom teeth extraction surgery. This is one of the really lovely ones, as you can see.

This large clay female figurine with helmet, is dedicated to the sanctuary of Gortyna (Gortis). The hand posture indicates that she held shield and spear, in the type of Athena Promachos, the goddess of wisdom and war. - Archaic period, 7th century BC

I love photo-manipulation. A small effort of self- portraiture.
