“They blame those who remain silent, they blame those who speak much, they blame those who speak in moderation. There is none in the world who is not blamed.” - Buddha
It always amazes me when I capture a child, and I swear I can see the wisdom of the ages in their eyes.
A wooden carving, depicting pearls of wisdom, is set against a large statue of the Buddha in the main shrine hall of the Buddhist temple at La Boulaye.

7/365 expecting much knowing things got to get slower. As I sit here watching swan lake I give the world another image. Hope everybody is having a nice day.
I was looking through old photographs and found this, which has never been seen before. In rural Devon, UK.
Inspiration Her work is the love of my life! (And of course the work of my flickr friends!)
I had to borrow this giant wooden face from my Dad. He's Buddhist and is fascinated with Hinduism as well. (The face is a Hindu God, I believe)
A Barred Owl (Strix varia) from Houston County, Texas.
Owls are often considered a symbol of wisdom, and this particular owl certainly taught me a valuable lesson. My family and I went to a nearby National Forest recreation area after work a few weeks ago to explore and cook a camp style supper. While preparing our meal at a picnic table, a barred owl flew on silent wings and passed just a few feet overhead. It landed in an old white oak not 10 feet from our table. I was immediately overcome with excitement, and quickly thereafter frustration and disappointment as I realized I left my telephoto lens at home. For a few minutes I was so consumed with feeling sorry for myself that I was failing to enjoy what was shaping up to be an incredible experience. Fortunately I soon snapped out of it, and my wife, our toddler son, and I followed the owl around the area as it moved from tree to tree, occasionally pouncing on frogs and lizards, and frequently flying nearly within arm's reach of us. On one pass he flew so close that my son exclaimed (unprompted) "owl!!".
This owl taught me that it's not always about chasing a photo, and that sometimes the experience itself is the best gift. That said, I did have my camera and my macro lens and was able to capture a few more environmental images that I actually ended up liking quite a bit. I hope I can take this lesson to heart and learn to slow down a bit more and just enjoy these encounters that I'm so fortunate enough to have.

Update:
Isaiah had his last appointment at Chapel Hill today and was completely cleared!
On another note, it is the end of the year and being the procrastinator that I am.... I'm trying to get all my continuing education credits in so I can actually practice pharmacy next year.
Up to my eyeballs in articles and video presentations....
Have a great night!

Many believed that trees possessed a unique energy, a life force that could be transferred to humans through physical contact. In Native American cultures, for instance, the act of hugging trees was seen as a way to connect with the wisdom of nature and to heal both body and soul

While visiting one of my sisters this weekend for a family birthday, I could not resist taking a few pictures of her kitties.
Caught this shot this morning of her oldest kitty Momma who is getting up there in years. She was giving me her best "I don't do mornings" scowl but she suddenly perked up when something outside caught her attention.
